Spring
The birds return and fill the skies,
With twittering chirps and fluttering feathers,
Back from the south, they return en masse,
Heralding the return of spring.
Squirrels skitter across the grass,
Climbing trees and chasing mates,
They scamper about with unbridled glee,
Thankful to feel the sunshine's warmth.
Crocuses poke their heads through the frost,
Tulips and forsythia begin to bud,
Girls parade in flimsy dress and,
Boys admire the beauty of springtime.
All the earth is poised and waiting,
Holding its breath for the first warm breeze,
Knowing that after the winter's bleakness,
A bright new world awaits.
