Look at the lovely Christmas lights!
Glowing brightly in the cold.
And then the other kind of sights,
The homeless, hungry and the old.
Sparkling Santas and reindeer,
Shining through the drifts of snow.
Are there any others here
Who have no place to go?
The miracles of the Winter season.
Mangers lit with tiny dots of light.
Whose birthday is it? What's the reason,
Why so many must live in the night?
Can we give each other gifts not needed,
And then mark them off a list.
So many will just go unheeded
With empty palms and an upraised fist.
Take a little of what you could have spent
On lights and tinsel and joyous song.
A warm blanket that you have sent
For winter is cold and oh, so long.
Not all angels in heaven, dwell
Some are living here on dust.
And they have nothing left to sell.
And life's not always just.
There is always something you can spare.
Some a little, some a lot
This the season you should share,
With others, who have not.
