I am white
ever brown before, ever dark and darker -
melding with the leaves, the forest as it looks from up above.

Was ever brown
no light to ease the shade -
Bright tho, from above, it came to seek me.

I hid in dark
and ever hid, and hid.

But cold has come
and up and up has brought me
to another meld, another joining reaching me
and color fades

How long is ever?
When the cold is joined
with ever
I am white
