We got up early that morning to go to Alcatraz Island as it was a nice day out and would probably be 80 degress again. I had never been to Alcatraz and was curious what to expect. The boat ride over is about 15 minutes as they keep telling you about the history of Alcatraz Prison. This is a place where they put the hard convicts so that they could not break out as it's in the middle of the the San Francisco Bay. Once we get there the story becomes even grimmer as they start to show you the type or treatment that was provided here. It's more the isolation than the prison term that was influential to me. You knew you wouldn't be going any where and all convicts would be coming over by boat. The cells were not exactly in the best condition althought it has been years since this
jail was in use.
After we come back from Alcatraz we decide to get drive around a little bit as we went down Lombard street and then went to get something to eat in China town. We stop at this little restaurent on a busy Saturday morning and eat lunch in a place where they have just got done smoking pig. I ask to take a picture and they said sure. The food was god as I had abaloni and shrimp soup and Cindy had noodles.
We leave for Mountain View where the Gratefule Dead concert will be held. I had never been to a Grateful Dead concert before but was looking forward to it. The atmosphere is so much different then most concerts as it is laid back and everybody in a mellow mood and not necessarily
stoned but beautiful (Jimi). They were selling beads, pipes, knives, bubbles,tie-die shirts and anything else you could think of. The concert was great as it lastedover three hours and everybody was laid back with frisbees and being thrown everybody just having a good time.We left the concert and drove back to Berkeley as it was still pretty early. We decided to go see a movie
