Greek name: Sachmis

Meaning:  "Mighty One"  "Powerful"

Sacred Number: 7 & 5*

City:  Memphis (shrine in Karnak)

Relationship to Netjeru: Daughter of Ra

Consort: Ptah (creator Netjer)

Offspring:  Nefertum "Lotus Blossom on the nose of Ra"

Sacred Animal:  lioness, cobra

Sacred Symbols:  the sun, uraeus, lotus, fire

Direction:  West (south in Wicca/Pagan faith)

Colors: red, orange, yellow & sometimes green

Stones:  ruby, garnet, carnelian, obsidian, rutilated quartz,
amber, basalt, bloodstone, tigers eye & hematite


Incense:  dragon's blood, copal, frankincense, myrrh, cinnamon,ginger, sandalwood

Metal: Gold (some sillver as many items are now made in this material)

Offerings:  raw meat & blood drippings (comes with the meat), red beer, cut flowers, pomegranates, mandrakes & sand

(note: the object of the offerings is to appease Sekhmet's bloodthirst)

Titles: (only a few)  Great One of Magic, Scorching Eye of Ra, Daughter of Ra, Roamer of Deserts

Know for: plagues,  disease, death, war, destruction, attacking Pharoah's enemies,  healing & protection

Many focus only on the destructive nature of Sekmet and fail to see she is a great healer and protector,  She is also the upholder of Maat.  Creation can not start without the tearing down of  some structure of life.
