Especially useful for men, who have trouble finding info on how a Horned God can fit into your life. Goddess side is riddled with typographical errors, but info seems generally sound. Deepening Witchcraft: Advancing Skills and Knowledge, By Grey Cat, 2002. Focuses on the needs of leaders in Witchcraft, Wicca, and Paganism in general. Offers guidance and advice on teaching, designing public rituals, practicing advanced magic etc. Fantasticly useful book. Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy, By Mircea Eliade 1964. Considered the authoritative study on Shamanism, explains what it is and is not. Focuses on Siberian and Central Asian cultures. Intended for the non-specialist reader. Subjects: Religion, Anthropology. email

The Complete Book of Amulets and Talismans, By Migene Gonzalez-Wippler. 2001. Practical guidebook for making your owns amulets and talismans from all over the world. I find it rather occultic, without much explanation or spiritual influence. Subjects: World Religion, Anthropology, Mythology. email

Gypsy Sorcery and Fortune Telling, By C.G. Leland. 1962. A reprinting of Leland's original study on gypsys. One of the few. This book is long out of print. Subjects: Gypsy lore, folk lore, magic? email

The Urban Primitive, By Raven Kaldera and Tannin Schwartzstein. 2002. Excellent book for Pagans who don't live within nature, and must learn to find nature in the depths of the city. Learn city herbs and plants you can find almost anywhere. Discover your Urban Totem, such as raccoon, or mouse. Call upon the Urban Triple God or Goddess, such as Skor, goddess of dumpster treasures, or Slick, god of smooth talking. An edgy, probably controversal approach to our 21st century lifestyle. Almost a parody, but a real religious alternative for our Pagan siblings stuck in the heart of downtown where ever. Subjects: New Age, Paganism, Magick Studies. email

The Complete Art of WitchCraft, By Sybil Leek.1971. Now and elder, Sybil shares her family tradition of Witchcraft, making it easier for others to come out of the woodwork. She's done so much work for us. Claims to have a 700 year old tradition. At least hear her out. Subjects: Witchcraft, Biography, History. email

When Someone You Love Is Wiccan, By Carl McColman. 2003. A guide to witchcraft and paganism for concerned friends, nervous parents, and curious coworkers. Q & A format is really useful. Accurate and good information for those who are afraid. Subjects: New Age, Wiccan. email

The Pagan's Muse, ed. Jane Raeburn. 2003. Words of ritual, invocation and inspiration written by fellow pagans and witches. Not the best poetry, but includes the "Charge of the Goddess" and one for the god. A good jumping off point to write your own poetry. Subjects: Poetry, Ritual, Wicca. email

The Spiral Dance, By Starhawk. 1989. A rebirth of the ancient religion of the Great Goddess. Includes rituals, invocations, excercises and magick. The heart and soul of the movement. A must-read for any aspiring witch. This is the 10th aniversary edition, and it's signed by Starhawk. So don't steal it. Subjects: Women's Studies. email

Teen Witch: Wicca for a New Generation, By Silver Ravenwolf. 1998. This book will show you the basics of Wicca understandable for Teens and beginners. To Ride A Silver Broomstick, By Silver Ravenwolf. 1999. Advanced magick for 20- somethings. More thorough definitions, some history, psychic growth excercises, and advice on things like coming out of the broom closet. A decent advanced text, but she hates Christians, and there's not call for that. Subjects: Alternative Spirituality, Psychic Development, Magick, Wicca. email

To Stir a Magick Cauldrom: A Witches Guide to Casting and Conjuring, By Silver Ravenwolf. 1999. Picks up where Silver Broomstick left off. More advanced info on daily devotions, sacred space, getting to know your inner self etc. Kind of repetative. Well, it's still Ravenwolf. Subjects: Witchcraft, Spirituality, Occultism. email
