Combat Rules

If you are sparring/battling in Call of the Wyld, Call of the Wyld rules apply above A/all

This is our domain, therefore Our rules. If you don't like it take your fight elsewhere. Any that don't respect the rules, be warned, your battle will NOT be recognized

One On One Combat

1) This is a White Wolf World of Darkness room. White Wolf Gifts, Disciplines, etc. are used in Call of the Wyld; anything else is ONLY at the agreement of ALL parties involved in the conflict, dicussed in OOC (Out Of Character) posts, denoted using either the OOC pulldown, standard OOC within the post, or wrapped inside double parenthesis as such ((Like this)), otherwise White Wolf Powers of any kind exclusively are used.

2) Gifts are used in a manner such as:  *invoking Speed Beyond Thought, I race forward, fuelled by my Rage*  For vampires, the name of the Discipline, path name if any apply such as with Thaumaturgy or Necromancy, and the level name must be used and be clearly understandable to all. For example ~Auspex/Telepathy~, abbreviations are allowed but only if they are clear, i.e, ~aus/tel~. If this is not followed the action will be null and void.

3) Both parties can agree if other said party has different Powers otherwise NO Powers should be used

4) The challenger goes first post unless otherwise agreed

5) 3 alternating posts, maximum 3 actions per post (being that of offense and/or defensive)

6) Combos and counters are allowed if realistically possible

7) Healing is considered an action,  moving (physically, mentally, with or without Powers) is not considered an action unless in a blocking/defensive maneuver.  Some Powers add actions as though they were one, and some do not count as an action.  Please be aware of this possibility and know the Powers well enough to account for this.

8) 2 weapons of the users choice, a shield is considered a weapon

9) If its a spar to the death, then its 5 post alternating, maximum 3 actions per post, either party may attack first being their first post, no chit chatting between post after the initial attack has been posted, (be it to whomever) it will be counted as a post to the spar, the only exception  being after the initial attack is posted, one chitchat post to give the defendant sufficient time to acknowledge the attack.  OOC posts do not apply to this, but they must be marked as such.

10) Scripts of all death spars must be uncut versions and admitted to both said parties, and any and all judges.

11) Judging will be done in Call of the Wyld unless both said parties agree to alternate judge/judges.  A word on judges:  If  you go out and hunt up a bunch of folks who say they just "happen to stop by" having no connection with the fight at all, but all of a sudden start behaving as judges when your ostensible judges don't show up, mysteriously, and to tell you the truth, I don't give a rat's ass WHO these folks are, be they Solurex, de Blackheart, Darkheart, DarkStorm, or who ever, the whole farce will stop right then and there, and the "judges" and combatants not of the room will be IGNORED for lame ass bullshit.  I have seen several "death spars" lately where one party or the other pulled this little stunt, and I personally have never in my whole life seen anything so stupid and lame.

12) To bring this to the attention  of WWC, both parties must come forward with uncut scripts, otherwise the individual clans/septs/kiths etc. will determine the outcome within their own domains.

13) Attributes, levels, and blood, Rage, and Gnosis, etc. points WILL be recognized, the reason being is that everyone should have a character sheet viewable, and outsiders who wish to fight or spar with us,  please BEAR IN MIND a REALISTIC character record.  If a vampire has not fed for a few nights, it is VERY hard upon them to cast any discipline power of level five or higher at several instances during a spar.  Even an elder, with a tabletop game blood pool of 60 blood points would be hard pressed immediately after feeding to capacity to cast several level ten powers during a spar without succumbing to torpor.  The same goes for Garou, Fae, Mages, Hunters, etc.  BE REALISTIC, because godmoders are not tolerated or recognized here.

14)  Above ALL, remember, role playing, including combat and battles, is for FUN.  Role play with some sense, please, everyone.  Thank you.

White Wolf Style One On One Combat

As an option to the ammalgamated Free Form/White Wolf combat rules for One On One Combat above, Call of the Wyld also will accept and typically prefer this method, especially combat between two White Wolf characters.  Nomal spars will be one action per post (unless using a power or ability that allows for more), all actions rolled, ten alternating posts.  A Death Spar is one action per post (unless using a power, ability, etc. that allows for more) and will be 15 alternating posts, no death blows until at least the 9th post can be attempted.  A judge(s) and/or a Storyteller is required present during any combat that may even remotely be contested.  ALL actions, Gifts, Disciplines, powers of any type, and so on are to be rolled on an online die roller, where the roll is easily visible to all.  One can be found at White Wolf's Site.  Click the Interactive link, then click Die Roller.  Its simple to use.  ALL combatants MUST have a REALISTIC, COMPLETE character sheet visible for the judges and/or Storyteller.

1)  Initiative will be determined by all.  Initiative is rolled using your Dexterity + Wits score as the base and rolling one ten sided die and adding that number to the combined rating of your Dexterity + Wits.  Say for example, you have 4 dots in Dexterity and 3 dots in Wits.  That number is 7.  You roll one ten sided die and get a 7.  Your initiative roll is 14.  Highest initative goes first.  Some Gifts, Disciplines, and other powers affect your Initiative, so please be aware of these and advise the judges and/or Storyteller.

2)  OOC comments, chitchat posts, etc. are handled here as they are in normal One On One Combat.  This applies to both Normal spars and Death spars.  ALL Gnosis, Rage, Blood Points, and so on MUST BE TALLIED AND KEPT TRACK OF.

3)  2 weapons of each combatants choice may be used in both Normal spars and Death spars.  A shield is, as always, considered a weapon.

4)  When posts are made, they are made in the manner described above in regards to powers and such, but also are to be noted the difficuly rolled against, the results of the roll, meaning both the numbers rolled and how many successes were rolled, and the effects of whatever Gift, Discipline, etc. was used, or action made.  Health levels and types of Damage they cause are very important information.  5 Health levels of Bashing damage are VASTLY different that 5 Health levels of Lethal damage or Aggravated damage.  Make sure you include as much information as possible in your post.

5)  Soak rolls do not count as an action.  Soak rolls are made normally against Bashing or Lethal damage, using your Stamina dice pool as the pool rolled to soak.  Powers such as Fortitude/Level 1-10, the Gifts Luna's Armor, Luna's Avenger and so on and others affect your soak pool.  Some are tied to Aggravated damage only, others only work with certain types of damage or in certain circumstances.  Soaking damage is automatic, a basic function of the body and/or permanently activated powers.

6)  Again, ALL OOC POSTS MUST be marked as such.  You can use the OOC pulldown, the standard double parentesis ((like this)), or put OOC in the comment.  But they MUST be marked, or will be considered IC and your response to the action(s) being made.

7) Scripts of all Death spars must be uncut versions and admitted to both said parties, and any and all judges.

8) Judging will be done in Call of the Wyld unless both said parties agree to alternate judge/judges.

9) To bring this to the attention  of WWC, both parties must come forward with uncut scripts, otherwise the individual clans/septs/kiths etc. will determine the outcome within their own domains.

10) Attributes, levels, and blood, Rage, and Gnosis, etc. points WILL be recognized, the reason being is that everyone should have a character sheet viewable, and outsiders who wish to fight or spar with us,  please BEAR IN MIND a REALISTIC character record. This rule is partcularly important in this combat option.

11)  Above ALL, remember, role playing, including combat and battles, is for FUN.  Role play with some sense, please, everyone.  Thank you.

Multiple Opponent Battles

1)  If there is a group attack, planned or unplanned, the above rules for One On One still apply, with these changes mentioned here.  These rules as the above are generally non-negotiable.  If you consider these rules "lame" you know where the Leave button is.

2)  When an attacker attacks an opponent in a battle, skirmish, or raid, the responses become time based, rather than necessarily post for post.  If there are more than one attacker on a single target,  AT LEAST 3 FULL MINUTES must pass between EACH attacking post.  This is part of what gives the opponent time to respond to the attack.  Any attacking post made BEFORE the 3 minute mark, the defender can consider "not happened."

3)  When it comes to the defender, he or she must respond to every valid attack post within 15 MINUTES.  This, in conjunction with the above rule, takes into consideration the fact that we are role playing online, not at a table.  If defending one attacker in a post, the defender, like the attacker, should use their name on the pulldown.  This is not a concrete rule as many have to reload often, but make sure everyone knows who is attacked by who and who is defending against who.

4)  During ANY combat, one on one or multiple, ALL Rage, Gnosis, Blood Points, Arcanoi, etc WILL BE TALLIED AND KEPT UP WITH.  If you are out of any of these and your attack calls for them, tough shit, you don't succeed.  Role play is pretend, fantasy, and so on, true enough, but it is based on real world situations, as completely as is possible.  Which means, succinctly, that if you are out of juice, you don't go no further with that particular little avenue.

5)  As above, 3 actions per post, judging optional but STRONGLY advised, scripts necessary, and combos and so on relistically done, please.

6)  All rules stated in the One On One combat rules as applies to judges, location judges are drawn from, attributes, Rage/Gnosis/Blood/Arcanoi/Conviction/etc points, the WWC, and anything else that might possibly have been forgotten apply to larger scale battles as well.  Role play with some sense, please, everyone.  Thank you.

7)  Above ALL, remember, role playing, including combat and battles, is for FUN.  Role play with some sense, please, everyone.  Thank you.

White Wolf Style Multiple Opponent Battles

As an option to the ammalgamated Free Form/White Wolf combat rules for Multiple Opponent Battles above, Call of the Wyld also will accept and typically prefer this method, especially battles between White Wolf characters.  Nomal battles will be one action per post (unless using a power or ability that allows for more), all actions rolled, until some sort of resolution comes about.  A Death Battle/Raid is one action per post (unless using a power, ability, etc. that allows for more) and all actions rolled until one side retreats or surrenders, or the attack is broken off.  A judge(s) and/or a Storyteller is required present during any battle that may even remotely be contested.

1)  Initiative will be determined by all, or by group initiative, which should be settled before ANY actions are taken.
