Ozzy Osbourne has had 30 years in music, a top hit show and one huge career. Ozzy who's real name is John Micheal Osbourne was born on December 3rd, 1948 in Birmingham, England. John got his name "Ozzy" in grammer school from "Osbourne." He grew up in a poor family with five brothers ans sisters which he shared a bed with. At age 15 Ozzy quit school and got jobs as a Plumber's Mate, Slaughter House Worker, and finally a Car Horn Tester. Car horn testing brought on his musical talent. Then Ozzy unsatisfied by life started on a life of crime. Stealling clothes, and from homes of others. He was caught and sent to six weeks in prison. This is where he cut the ,now famous, O-Z-Z-Y on his knuckles. Later Ozzy formed a band with an old friend Terrance [Geezer] Butler called "Ozzy Zig." "Ozzy Zig" was not accoplishing anything so Ozzy and Terrance put up a newspaper ad and hoped for results. Two friends Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward answered the ad. They got together and formed "Polka Talk." Surpisingly they were a blues/jazz band. Soon enough they became "Earth." Another band named Earth got them regonition due to having the same name. They were soon touring and very poor. The Black Sabbath era began in 1969 when Terrance saw a movie called "Black Sabbath." Terrance told Ozzy and "Earth" they should become "Black Sabbath" and be a darker band. The band then got gigs at Clubs and had a manager Jim Simpson. Simpson got them a demo tape out with five songs on it. In 1970 Black Sabbath released the second album "Paraniod." "Paraniod" was the first single off of it. It was a #1 hit and was recorded as a filler for the album. This song got them major status in the rock world. They then fired Jim Simpson because he was getting too much of Black Sabbath's money. Under new managment Black Sabbath re-release thier demo/debut album "Black Sabbath" and it goes platinum. "Paranoid" went sold over four million copies. The third album "Master Of Reality" goes platinum. "Volume 4" was the bands fouth album, had to be re-named because the original name was involved with cocaine abuse. In 1974 Black Sabbath released "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath." The special thing about this album is that Ozzy wrote his first song for Sabbath "Who Are You?" Terrance wrote ninty-five percent of the lyrics for Sabbath. The album sold over a million copies. "Sabatage" came nextand again they fired thier managment. This time Black Sabbath doesn't re-hire. In 1976 Sabbath released two albums, a greatest hits compilation "We Sold Our Souls For Rock And Roll," and "Technical Ecstasy." In 1977 Ozzy got sick of Tony Iommi running the band and he quit Black Sabbath. At the time he was very depressed and very into drugs. Sabbath still goes on and hires a new singer Dave Walker. But in 1978 Ozzy comes back fires Walker, destroys all his work, and releases Sabbath's last album. "Never Say Die," the final Sabbath album feautures a song called "Juniors Eyes" which was written by Ozzy as a final goodbye to his father. Later Black Sabbath's Bill Ward breaks the news to Ozzy that because of his constent drug abuse, they were trowing him out of the band. Ozzy now very depressed was sitting in a hotel drinking and doing drugs when Sharon Arden [Daughter of one of Black Sabbath's manager's] see's Ozzy's condition and gets Ozzy back into music again. Sharon's father Don Arden gets Ozzy in a band called Blizzard Of Ozz. The band has Randy Rhoades, Bob Daisly, and Lee Kerslake in it. In 1980 Ozzy was in desperate need of a label. Sharon got him a meeting with CBS. She thought it would be nice to have doves fly out of his pockets. Ozzy who had been drinking that day, tryed it and in a rampage bit the head off of a dove. Ozzy then was kicked out of the building and took a inal bit off of another dove and threw it across the room. He was called "Insane" and "A mad man" by the Humane Society. Ozzy's solo album was still released and called "Blizzard Of Ozz". It is currently multi-platinum. "Diary Of A Madman" is his second solo album and Daisly, and Kerslake are kicked out of the band due to, again, money problems. Proving rock and roll madness Ozzy started throwing meat [guts from butcher shops] into the crowd. The crowds loved it so much they started doing it to. One individual was kicked out of concert because he brought a full Ox head to a concert. In 1982 Ozzy's most famous moment ever occurs. On stage he bites the head off of a bat. The crowd had been throwing animals on stage. Ozzy [who, again, had been drinking] thought it was plastic. He thought it was plastic since the lights and sound has stunned it leaving it petrified. Immediatly the bat flapped it's wings showing it was in fact real. Ozzy was rushed to hospital right after the show for rapies shots. Proving he wasn't a madman he siad it was one of the most horrible things ever and he was discusted. On March 19th, 1982 Ozzy's saddest moments occured. While resting at a stop in Texas, the band's bus driver who was a pilot, decided to go flying. He took the band's maek up artist Racheal and long time friend/band member Randy Rhodes with him. The pilot was depressed because he had just gotten divorced. Angry he flew the plane at the bus because he thought he saw his ex-wife step off of the bus. The plane hit the bus, causing severe damage, then flew into a garage, blowing up instantly. Ozzy and the rest of the band who were on the bus [who were not hurt] saw this happen. Ozzy insantly ran into the burning building to try to save Randy Rhodes. he was alive but died in an ambulance. Ozzy's 1982 wasn't all saddness though he did get married, again, to Sharon Arden [now Sharon Osbourne]. It was a wedding in Maui. Ozzy wasn't impressed with the band playing, so him and his band took the bands instruments and did acoustic versions of Sabbath, and Beetles songs. Sharon then takes her fathers position as Ozzy's manager. On his "Speak Of The Devil" album the cryptic sriting is a tribute to the late Randy Rhodes.Ozzy then releases his fanous album "Bark At The Moon." In 1983 Ozzy and Sharon have there first child Aimee. In 1984 while shooting "So Tired" video a mirror exploeded putting glass in Ozzy's throat, canceling eight concerts. Ozzy started to pick himself up and checked into a drug-rehab place. Also in 1984 he has a second child Kelly. In 1985 Ozzy has his third child Jack. He also gets Sabbath back together to do a three song concert. In 1986 Ozzy is sued twice. Once was at a concert he told the fans to tear apart the seats. That one cost him $80,000. The next one was more serious. A boy who was an Ozzy fan, committed suicide while listening to Ozzy's "Suicide Solution." In 1987 Ozzy releases "Randy Rhodes Tribute Album." It went double-platinum. He also re-hires Bob Daisly on bass, and hires the now-legandary Zakk Wylde for guitar. In 1989 Ozzy drinks four bottles of Russian Vodka. He then wnet mad and said to Sharon "we've decided that you've got to go." Ozzy then started choking Sharon. Luckily for Sharon the house had panic bottons. He was arrested for attemted murder, spent three months in re-hab, and had no memory of the incident. Former Sabbth member Terrance took up bass for an Ozzy album. In 1991 Ozzy broke his foot on stage, and won a grammy. In 1992 Ozzy announced his retirement. The "No More Tears" tour was his retirement tour. He wanted to retire so he could spend time with his family. At the end of the tour Black Sabbath reunited for the second time and at the end of the concert a sign lit up behind Ozzy saying "Ozzy Osbourne I'll Be Back." In 1995 after two years, and a Grammy award Ozzy does the "Retirement Sucks" tour. In 1996 Ozzy gets members of Faith No More, and Suicidle Dendinces in his band. In September, Ozzy starts the world's biggest metal tour ever Ozz-Fest. The first Ozz-Fest feautured metal gods Slayer, Fear Factory, Danzig, Prong, and Neurosis. In 1998 Ozz-Fest had System Of A Down, Motorhead, Megadeth, Tool, Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit, The Melvins, Snot, Incubus, Sevendust, and Monster Voodoo Machine.
