Down are one of the loudest bands out there. Pantara are one of the biggest, heaviest, hardest rocking metal bands ever. Superjoint Ritual are one today's hardest rocking, rising metal bands. How are all these connected? Phil Anselmo sings in all three. First Pantara broke out in 1990 and dominated the metal world. Down have an intresting background. Pantara's bassist Rex Brown is also in the band. Corrosion Of Conformity's Pepper Kennen, and Crowbar's Kirk Windstien take guitar, and Eye Hate God's Jimmy Bower is on drums. Second in 1997 Down recorded thier 5 song demo. The demo was recorded in some kids garage in New Orleans. They got drunk, and played loud music. The kid's parents weren't home and they stayed up till 2:00 sreaming with monsterous riffs. The garage recorded demo got them a record deal. The result was "Nola" a hard and heavy album with non stop crushing music. "Stone the Crow" threw Down ontop the metal scean. Down got airplay on MTV and flew up metal radio charts. In 2002 Down returned after a hit Pantara album and single. The new album was appropriatly named "II." "Ghosts Of The Mississippi" was the first single. MTV2 and metal radio picked it up. Down landed on Ozz-Fest that year too. Ozz-Fest had Ozzy, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Adema, Flaw, Chevelle, and more. See Ozz-Fest 2002 Special. Down haven't sold 12 million records world wide like Pantara but still "II" debuted at #44 selling 31, 430 records. Down even opened for System Of A Down in 2002.
