Joe Budden's rap career started off in New Jersey. Joe inspired by the likes of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Rakim, KRS-One, and Kool G Rap, rapping everywhere on his street. Soon he started hitting Jersey City studios, releasing mix-tapes onto the underground. At the time he was going under the name Mouse, but soon found with a name like that he couldn't get signed and just used his own name. In 1997, at age 17, Joe checked into rehab for drugs and a year later left during the program and ran away with his track record.. Joe's big break finally came in 2001 when one of his self produced albums hit Cutmuster Cee, who gave it to Webb of Desert Storm. Webb was impressed by Joe's talents and gave him studio time to make mix-tapes, and soon enough Def Jam caught a hold of Joe. In 2003 his debut album "Joe Budden" was released. The album has colaberations with 112, and Busta Rhymes. The first single "Pump It Up," soon became an instant hit on MTV and a club banger hit. The video became Buzzworthy on MTV. The single cracked the top ten on Billboard Rap chart, and even cracked the top fourty's on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at #7 on Billboard as well. The album isn't all club bangeers, it also has songs focusing on Joe's dark past. On "Thugs Cry" Joe raps about how he went to jail after his child's mother threw his stuff out, so he trashed her stuff, and he was arrested. "Dear Angela" deals with an incidant with the same woman when she threw a knife at him. He was taken to the hospital, and she went to jail. Since then Joe's life has turned around. He did a mix-tape with Fabolous for DJ Clue, that was played at the NBA finals. "Pump It Up" was feautured on Madden 2004, with Bonecrusher, Killer Mike, Outkast, Bubba Sparxxx, Blink 182, Alien Ant Farm, The Roots, and more. Also Joe was a fighter in the video game Def jam Vendetta. The EA Sports game, created by Def Jam, allows you to fight as Def jam rappers in an under ground wrestling league. Ludacris, DMX, Capone, N.O.R.E., Method Man, Redman, and Keith Murrey, are just a few of the fighters you can use.
