Mixing a perfect blend of Limp Bizkit rap-metal and Ozzy grooved singing and you've got Saliva. The Memphis rockers formed in 1996 by Josey Scott and Chris D?abaldo. Searching lead to Wayne Swinny, and soon Dave Novotny, and Paul Crosby. Saliva broke loose in 1997. They entered a music competition with over 6,000 other bands. The band scored an independant recording contract and recorded thier self titled debut album. The album sold over 10,000 copies in the Memphis region and got Saliva a major label deal with Island Def Jam Recordings. Their major label debut album was called "Every Six Seconds." The band wrote a theme song for Memphis' XFL team the Memphis Maniax around the time of the album's release. The first single "Your Disease" picked up heavy radio rotation before the add date was set out. It instantly was a hit. The video picked up heavy MTV rotation. The cop in the video is a Memphis cop who is friends with Josey. The song picked for the Dracula 2000 soundtrack. Rob Zombie, Pantara, Powerman 5000, Disturbed, System Of A Down, Slayer, Static-X, Monster Magnet, and a duet of Godhead, and Marylin Manson appear on the soundtrack. Saliva then releassed thier second single "Click Click Boom" as the follow-up. The agressive song tackles all of Josey's talents mixing his rock singing, his rapping, and his ability to write. The song picked up massive rotation again. From the album tracks like "Superstar" and "Turn The Tables" were picked for WWF compmilation albums. In spring 2002 Josey Scott recorded a song with Chad Kroeger [Nickelback] on vocals, Tyler Conolly of [Theory Of A Deadman], and Pearl Jam members for the Spiderman Soundtrack. The song was called "Hero." The song won them Best Video From A Film at the MTV Video Music Awards. The song was huge on rock, and pop radio stations. In fall 2002 Saliva returned with thier new album "Back Into Your System." The first single was "Always." It is a radio friendly all rock song. It's lyrics deal with violance. The song was very big on rock radio charts, and it picked up heavy MTV rotation. The video potrays a guy who wakes in a cab and there is nobody at the wheel. In his eyes everything is wrong, and messed up, when in real life everythings fine. The second single from the album was "Rest In Peices." The song was a collaberation with Nikki Sixx on it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
