Pride Blinds Biased Eyes
So many have died
And what's it all for?
So that we can live on
To kill so many more
Why don't we all try
To make love not sorrow?
Then we'll hold our heads high
In the light of tomorrow
There are bombs falling
Through the skies of Iraq
Each one is calling
For the freedom they lack
They call out the names
Of innocent young life
The sky fills with flames
Death decapitates strife
The target they sought
Dodged Justice's clinched hand
The soldiers who fought
Liberated the sand
How long will it take
To end this cycle of crime?
You've got all the power
So please unearth the time
No more excuses
War has gone on too long
We want peace not pieces
Before Justice is gone
Why won't you try it
Is your truth made of lies?
Why can't you see it
Does the truth blind your eyes?

Do Not Die For Me
Do not die for me
I will not kill for you
Do not die for me
You should never have a reason to
I will not kill for you
Why is that so hard to understand?
So do not die for me
Your blood is not welcome on my hands
What price salvation, Lord?
These things that man will do
But to take a human life
There should never be a reason to
What price salvation, God?
That another man should die for me
And save the lives, with guns and bombs
Of the suppressed who would be free
Do not Die for me
I will not die for you
You need not die for me
Jesus already has
God's Children (One Family We Are)
I have no desire to become a hero
If what I do is bring a mother and a father sorrow
In a war where a man kills his brother
There can never be a winner
How does God classify a sinner?
And so what of the father and mother
Of the son who killed his only brother?
Which one was the hero in their family
The son who helped his country be free
Or the one who died for the Confederacy?
As we relive the lives of Cain and Abel
We will never escape the cycle if we are unable
To seek a permanent solution
I think we have an obligation
Aren't we all God's children?
A Dream I Dreamt Last Night
When I awoke this day I was not proud
My heart wrapped within a
bloodied shroud
The image of his face burned into the cloth
Like a vision
from in the mind of a Visigoth
I think the devil slipped past my
sleep
Or just dread from my mind adeep
Taunting me like a matador with his
red pelisse
Telling me that there is no such thing as peace
Claimed
I was nothing but a common fool
Fooled by liberals to be their wrong wing
tool
Said to me with breath of fire I'm un-American
Called me a coward,
accused me not a man
He so boldly challenged me to a fight
Barking out
I was wrong and he was right
He struck me once after I said no
He struck
again when I turned to go
Was then I realized he would not stop
He
held issues within he would not drop
Yet I held back, offered no
defense
Stood against him with my hate for violence
So not one punch
was even thrown
Not for anything that was yet unknown
For all his threats
still I did not strike
Nor for all his reasons for his dislike
While
deep asleep I faced my inner fear
Rejecting the lies from one so
insincere
All doubt cast out as was my inner demon
Risen within, a soaring phoenix-like eudemon
And so it seemed as he gasped and fell
My soul
had glimpsed the path to Hell
At the moment his accusations ceased
The
guilt I felt inside was quietly released

War, What Is It Good For?
I've thought a lot about war over the years, and about the people who fought in them and the many who've died in them. There is a conflict within me between my mind and my heart.
I cannot, under any circumstances justify killing innocent children to get one guilty man. There must be a better way, or at least another way, we just haven't tried hard enough to achieve it. JJ
Peace Rally in NY City
02/15/2003
I just got home from the peace rally in NY City and it was absolutely amazing. They did not know how many people were there but it was estimated in the hundreds of thousands. As far as the eye could see down every avenue there were countless multitudes. The speakers were
awesome and included many great humans. Arch Bishop Desmond TuTu, Martin Luther King III, Harry
Bellefonte, Pete Seager, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, various other celebrities, peace makers and politicians. It was
truly an unforgettable experience and I am so glad I went. Met a lot of really cool people and in spite of freezing cold temps and winds, it was still fun and worth every minute. They had poetry readings as well, which were terrific.

NY City Peace march
03/22/2003
Today was another great day in NY City. We had thousands upon thousands turn up for another march through the streets of NY. It feels so unbelievably
awesome to be among so many people uniting and sharing their passion for peace. I know George Dubya is doing his best to ignore us, but the fact is, he can only do so on the outside. Inside he knows that millions of Americans marched across the country today and others around the world did also. The television reports have been so down played it is ridiculous. They show 10 seconds of film and report fractions of the actual numbers that marched. Clearly the press wants ratings and war, not peace is going to get them.
Anyone who was there knows there were well over 100,000, with some reports claiming 1 million today. Though I don't think there were really that many. There were more at the rally in February which had around 400,000-500,000 people. My own feeling from the people I saw were that it was between 100,000-200,000 this afternoon. But without a rally and speakers, that's not to be unexpected. Today was a march alone and a very long one at that. My feet are killing me.
I am now looking ahead to next Friday when we have a "Artists Against The War" rally in a church in Albany, NY. Poetry, music and harmony....
I hope for peace for everyone forever!

Rally & march to end the occupation of Iraq
and bring the troops home
10/25/2003
Washington, DC.
What an awesome experience to stand in front of the Washington Monument with thousands upon thousands of people who all want the same thing. And though we may not always agree on everything, the feeling within that war is wrong runs deep within us all. The rally was an all day event which was followed by the march around the White House. Bush is being shielded from the anti-war demonstrations. If a man wishes to lead a nation of voters, he must listen to it's people. Turning your back on the people and putting forth lie after lie can only lead to job termination, one way or another. Election or impeachment, it does not matter which, Howard Dean will be President next year. I must say that I have been impressed by Al Sharpton this year. He was at the rally in Washington and also earlier this year in NY City and I was moved by his
speeches. I have also seen a few interviews he has given and he seems to have come a long way over the years. He has really changed my mind about my view of him, though I am not ready to back him as President. Perhaps one day, perhaps as Vice President next year.

Michael Moore for President
03/27/2003 06:46 p.m.
Michael Moore made a great speech with perfect timing at the Oscars last week! Too bad that some don't understand that those of us who want peace are not against the troops. There seems to be a left over "Universal Soldier" syndrome in America. Remember that Donovan song from the 60's? Well, he blames all the troops who have ever fought in wars down through history for continuing to fight. That is a song from the past and an attitude better left there.
Soldiers go to a battle field and fight each other. But what we have been trying to get across is that innocent civilians are not soldiers. They did not sign up the give their lives for their country and are not acceptable losses, no matter what country they live in. The way I see it, if we kill children, women and anyone else who is not a part of the Iraqi military, then we will be doing exactly what bin Ladin did to America. How did we feel when al Qaida killed our families? We were outraged and enraged. So we bombed them, and rightfully so. They attacked us. What about Iraq? How are they going to feel when we are done killing their families? Will they be justified in retaliating against American troops who will be occupying their country after the war, after we have killed their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children? If you feel they are not justified, then why were we justified in retaliating against al Qaida? Those people in Iraq have not attacked us, nor for that matter has Saddam. We can not arrest people in our own country for crimes they have not yet committed, so why can we bomb a nation for something that has not yet happened?
Support our troops, bring them home!
Let the troops battle on the battlefield, where no innocents will be killed. Military against military, that is how war is waged. Each person who puts on a uniform, no matter what branch of the military they are in, knows the job
description. They know they could be killed and may have to kill other human beings, but that is their decision. They know they have applied for the job of defending their country, that is their
responsibility. Defending does not mean attacking other nations who have not attacked us. If the troops of the US must fight, then let them fight the troops of Iraq. That I can support. If they kill innocent
civilians, I can not support them.
I do not support the Bush Administration for the things it has done wrong. That is why Michael Moore's
speech was so great. He said what needed to be said. He did it where and when he did, because it would not have been broadcast by the news if it were done in any other setting at any other time. The media has been completely pro-war. And why not? They know what a ratings bonanza it is. Look at what happened the last time we bombed Iraq. Everyone, and I mean Every One watched it on TV. So now the media is in bed with Bush, so they can be on the front lines and get the ratings they crave. I wonder what sort of agreements were made to not report things that might cause Bush to lose the next election in such a way that he can't get his brother to fix it for him.
And to think our military is being led by a man who was AWOL during the Viet Nam war. I seem to remember an awfully big fuss being made over Clinton's education in England around the same time Dubya was missing his training sessions. I wonder why it's not such a big deal now?
Michael Moore is a refreshing face and voice in American politics. Michael Moore for President!

Just a thought, or is it a feeling?
As a very young boy, I was heavily influenced by the music of the 60's and 70's. If you know anything about my
heroes you will see that the people I admire the most are those who spoke out against war and violence, many of them dying from the violence of others. Martin Luther King Jr and John Lennon are probably the biggest influences in forming the person I am. I do not forget the influence of my parents and sometimes in spite of them, I am who I am. Bob Dylan and Neil Young were also huge influences in forming my feelings about war. During the Gulf War, Neil Young played a concert at the RPI
Field house in Troy, NY in which he performed the most haunting version of Dylan's
"Blowin' In The Wind" I have ever heard. It brought me to uncontrollable tears. Yes there are times when I feel like evil must die, but those feelings are born of anger, not a sense of justice. I do not know if God exists, but something tells me he does not want men making war in his name. If "War Is Hell" why would God bless those who make Hell in his name. It's just a feeling, but my heart knows it in its core. I hope that God is real, even if I am destined for Hell. The good souls need someone to protect them and reward them for their innocence.
