The Answer Is Blowin' In The Wind

On Empty Arms And Burning Flags
We stopped hanging criminals
Because we thought it was too harsh
Why are we still hanging flags?
Let's bring them closer to our hearts

Liberty will not abandon us
In spite of what we lack
Why are you still burning flags
Don't burn the one that's on my back

Open your arms to embrace the cloth
And all it represents
Open your eyes and respect
The history that it reflects

Freedom is still our trademark
And it will never fall apart
I think we can hold the flag
A little closer to the heart

Peace 0n Earth

Stars And Stripes
A Vet I met, he called me dirt
To me he was a dinasaur
He said it was because I wore
The Stars and Stripes upon my shirt

Years before he fought a war
Somewhere inside of him he hurt
He displays his medals on his shirt
I wonder what he won them for

Maybe for honor and courage
Cause he was brave enough to kill
How often must we be made to pay
The price to conquer one more hill?

Those kinds of hills I will not climb
I do not wish to seem so tall
For the higher up that you ascend
The further down your soul can fall

WWII & War with Iraq
03/09/2003 12:03 p.m.
In response to a comment made to me: The Nation of Germany attacked Poland and other Euopean countries as agressors. Those countries had a right to defend themselves. Japan attacked the US and we had a right to defend ourselves.

When the US attacks Iraq, does Iraq have a right to defend itself? Iraq has not attacked the US and in this country we cannot arrest and convict anyone of a crime because we think they might commit one. If we attack Iraq, we are the agressors. We will be killing many innocent people who do not support the leader or government of Iraq. All this in an attempt to kill its leader who is guilty of crimes against humanity, but not against the United States. We did not get Saddam the first time or in the 12 years since that war, what makes anyone think we will kill him this time? The only ones we can be sure will be killed are the citizens of Iraq who will then be justified in defending themselves against the Untited States. Then they will be justified in whatever retaliation is brought on us.

Can't you see why this is wrong? We do not have the support of the United Nations because this agression is wrong and to top it off, will fail to hit its true target. We have not even been able to locate Saddam in the last 12 years, how will we even know if we do kill him? We don't yet know if we got Bin ladin or not. Though we were justified in the bombings in Afganistan because he and his terrorists did in fact attack the US.

The difference is so clear I cannot believe you can't see it. So many countries can see it, that is why they don't support a US war with Iraq. So many people around the world can see it, that is why we gathered in cities in all over the world to show our unity against this war.

Let go of your pride, it fills you with hatred that makes you willing to kill innocent children who you care nothing about. We cannot, in this country, give the death penalty to one person for someone elses crime. We don't give children the death penalty in our own country. Why can we do it in someone elses country?

Chemical Crimes Against Humanity
03/09/2003 08:03 p.m.

Yet another response to a message I received: Saddam does not have the ability to bring about our demise. He has no missles or aircraft that could deliver a dirty bomb or chemical bomb or bio bomb to the United States. The chemical weapons Iraq made had a shelf life of 2-3 months and the biological weapons had a shelf life of no more than 3 years. None of them would be capable of killing anyone unless they happened to be standing next to one when it blew up. None of his weapons ever had the range to reach the United States. If the rest of the world wants us to protect them from such threats, they need to ask us. So far, the majority do not want our help and have said so at the United Nations. If Saddam ever becomes capable and does so, then and only then, will we be justified in using military action.

Would you want to police storming in to your house to arrest you because they say you are going to commit a crime? You are ignoring the law, international law. We have not been attacked, if we are, then we can take action. That is why we were justified in bombing the Taliban and Al-Quida in Afganistan. Because they attacked us, not because we thought they might. We had to wait, it's a terrible thing, but we must wait or we become murderers. There is no justification in the world for us dropping bombs on innocent civilians. You avoid answering the real questions but these are the ones that matter most. Why do you feel these people are expendable? Tell me, would you feel the same about them if they were your children? Would you feel the same if they were your parents? Your brothers and sisters? Why is it ok to kill innocent people to get one man? There are no betters, we are all equal human beings. This is a fundamental problem with you. You actually feel some people are better than others, you are wrong.

I am not afraid to die, I went to NY City when all of my friends and family told me not to go to the peace rally because they believed there would be a terrorist attack on us. They believed that because our own government lied about the threats they knew were not substantiated. I went anyway, in spite of the danger, because I wanted to stand up for what I feel is right. I was not afraid. I am not afraid. Perhaps it is you who are afraid, you need the military to make you feel strong.

We know the truth of Saddam, he is an evil man, a killer and a coward. He should be sentenced to death in an international court for crimes against humanity. He should be found and brought to justice. But it is no justice when hundreds of thousands, perhaps one million Iraq citizens will die in an attempt to kill Saddam, which may not even get him. he very likely will survive and all of those people will have been murdered by George Bush. Will our President stand trial for the countless deaths that will occur in Iraq when we begin bombing?

There is no question that Saddam should be punished for his crimes. The question is, what are you willing to do to get him? I am not willing to kill innocent human beings. The difference between us is that you don't give a damn about them because they aren't Americans. That makes you a racist in my eyes, a person filled with hate. If they were American lives, I am absolutely certain you and Dubya would not be so eager to kill them.

Responding to hatred
03/10/2003 05:03 p.m.

The only place where slavery is natural is in the minds of those without hearts to remind them that no one human is better than another. The way of the world, as you see it, is only one small first step for mankind. There is another way and the things you are most proud of in this world will be the things that keep you from The Way.

You seem to think we are going to turn over some rock and discover all sorts of weapons and Al Quaida. Even if they exists, the problem is finding the rock. No one knows if or where Saddam is or where these hidden Al Quiada are. We already know what weapons he has and we know he is hiding them. But the lives of those you are willing to take in an attempt to turn over this mystical rock are not the lives of the guilty, they are the lives of the innocent. If there are Al Quaida in Iraq, what makes you think they are going to sit and wait for us to drop bombs on them? They are, if they exist in Iraq, hidden and safe. Saddam is hidden and safe.

You still have not told me what you think will be accomplished by this war. I have heard what the President wants, he wants a regime change, but who in Iraq is going to welcome us in to help them do that after we kill there family members? If someone killed your children, would you accept a helping hand from them? If someone killed your wife, would you want them coming to live with you, to be your neighbors for many years to come? That's what will happen, it has to in order to make a regime change happen. We have to send in thousands of troups for years to make sure the new government is stable and safe. Would you want your brother or your son to have to move to Iraq and live with people who hate us? If he helped wipe out someones family, I doubt the Iraqie people we "saved" from Saddam would be at all happy to have our military living in their country. If you killed my family and then moved into the house next door to mine, would you be able to sleep at night, wondering if I am plotting my revenge on you? All that we will accomplish in this war is to create more hate, hate against the United States. The UN are not fools. They voted against the US war and they are our best freinds in the world. You need to find out why they are against this war, not imagine rocks with weapons and Al Quiada underneath them. Even if they exist, we cannot act on our suspicions, we have no solid evidense, if we did, the UN would be backing us all the way.

The inner conflict rages like a war
When I hear that the ancestors of slaves want repperations for slavery, I am left to wonder two questions. Why should people who were not slave owners, or even ancestors of slave owners, pay those who were never enslaved and who are free to earn a living for themselves and their families? The other is, if repperations were to be paid, why not split them with the ancestors of the soldiers from the North, who died fighting for their freedom? I have ancestors who fought in the Civil War on the side of the North, some lived, some died. I am not looking for money because they did. At some point in my family history, it would not surprise me at all to find that my ancestors were slaves. I am not knocking on the gates of Buckingham Palace asking for money owed to me because they were. Take the freedom you have now and use it to make a better future for yourselves. Handouts make people complacent, I know this first hand.

The Politics Of Fear
In an effort to control those who would resist, and even those who may support their tactics, the Bush administration is using fear as a weapon. There are no two ways about it, they are terrorizing anyone and everyone with exaggerations, twists on truth, half truths, propoganda and outright lies to make people so afraid that they will give away their freedom and and support, or in the least, not resist changes in laws that subvert the Constitution Of The United States. They try to intimidate those of us who would resist and protest their actions with various methods of survielence and intervention, hoping we will be frightened away and shut up. History has shown that will not work. The war was morally and legally wrong. The occupation is wrong and must come to an end. George Bush and Dick Cheiney must be impeached and their staff must be fired. Bush and those who have masterminded this illegal war effort must be forced to stand trial for crimes against humanity. Bush must face charges for lying to Congress in his State Of The Union address.
