Death of an innocent

I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, so I drank soda instead.
I really felt proud inside, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, as everyone is driving out of sight.
As I got into my car, I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me, so responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road,
the other car didn't see me, and hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement, I hear the policeman say,
the other guy is drunk; but now I'm the one who will pay.

I'm lying here dying, Mom. I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me? My life just burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, he drank and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now... pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying, and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have told him, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter; I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, Mom, before I say goodbye.
I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?

- as i understand it, this was written by several friends of a young lady from the bay area of cali.  Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but please don't be bitter about it.

  Friends Without Faces
(and some that do)

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.

We chat with each other, we type all our woes
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name
We want recognition, but it is always the same.

We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships - but - "why" we don't know
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.

Why is it on screen, we can be so bold
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why is it we share, the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.

The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust.

Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.

T h e   U n i v e r s a l   R x

No moving parts, no batteries.
No monthly payments and no fees;
Inflation proof, non-taxable,
In fact, it's quite relaxable;

It can't be stolen, won't pollute,
One size fits all, do not dilute.
It uses little energy,
But yields results enormously.

Relieves your tension and your stress,
Invigorates your happiness;
Combats depression, makes you beam,
And elevates your self esteem!

Your circulation it corrects
Without unpleasant side effects
It is, I think, the perfect drug:
May I prescribe, my friend,... the hug!
(and, of course, fully returnable!)

  A   S i m p l e   H u g

There's something in a simple hug that always warms the heart.
It welcomes us back home and makes it easier to part.

A hug's a way to share the joy and sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say they like you 'cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone for whom we really care,
From your grandma to your neighbor, or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing.
It's just the perfect way
To show the love we're feeling
But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug makes everyone feel good.
In every place and language, it's always understood.

Hugs don't need new equipment, special batteries or parts;
Just open up your arms and open up your hearts.

Did You Ever

Did you ever love someone
And know they don't love you
Did you ever feel like crying
And ask what good it would do?
Did you ever look into their eyes
And say a little prayer?
Did you ever look into their hearts
And wish that you were there
Do you ever love someone my friend
Do you see it doesn't pay?
Although it causes broken hearts
It happens everyday
You wonder where they are tonight
You wonder if it's true
One minute you're happy
The next minute you're blue
Then at once you see them
And your heart begins to dance
Your heart revolves around them
You give them one more chance
Then you start to cry
And you don't know why
You worry night and day
You see my friend your loosing them
It always works that way
Love is very tough my friends
The price is very high
If I had a choice between love and death
I think I'd choose to die
So my friend don't fall in love
Your hurt before your through
You see my friend I ought to know
I fell in love with you...

A Love we Never Knew

I know I reached out for you
I know that this love is real
We could live our life, we two
But I know my fate is sealed
Never the courage
Never the guts
I couldn't tell you
What was driving me nuts
I loved you, you couldn't know
If I loved you, I didn't show
How could I?
What would they think?
If I showed my affection
Or even gave you a wink?
Am I evil?
Am I wrong?
To tell my love is strong and wait so long?
Oh, how I lived my life for you
Love has passed away
But, oh, how I lived my life for you
And now, I bear bitter sweet laughs
For this love we never knew-
Write it on my epitaph

Anti-Love

Why do people call love "the greatest thing on earth" ?
As I see it: you love them, you loose them, then it's a rebirth.
Love, to me, is something you want but can't ever get
You know it's true, and wish your two hearts could have met
Two people may be made for each other, but do they know it
Some people will never be in love, love in their hearts will never fit.

Colored
(a black man speaking to a white man)
When I was born, I was black.
When I grew up, I was black.
When I am sick, I am black.
When I go out in the sun, I am black.
When I am cold, I am black.
When I die, I will be black.
But you...when you are born, you are pink.
When you grow up, you are white.
When you are sick, you are green.
When you go out in the sun, you turn red.
When you are cold, you turn blue.
When you die, you turn purple.
And you have the nerve to call me colored?

Friends Enrich us

The more you give, the more you get...
The more you laugh, the less you fret...

The more you do UNSELFISHLY...
The more you live ABUNDANTLY...

The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare...

The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind...

For only WHAT WE GIVE AWAY,
ENRICHES US FROM DAY TO DAY...

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask "How are you?" do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow"
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time, to call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away...

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
