I don't need the protection of an ARB, and I hate the large brushbars even more (and the damage they can cause),
so I finally opted for the Safari Bar by Westin... I've got more lights coming soon and will provide a good mounting surface.
Part number for a 2000 > Bar # 30-0015 , Mounting kit # 30-1095
Cheapest place I found was at the Local Canadian Tire
Install is a no brainer, one person job, the bracket mounts to existing bolts holding the bumper.
Remove bolts, install brackets, re-install bolts, repeat on other side.  Add bar, centre it and tighten up all bolts.
Took 15 minutes.

Popular question... Safari Bar and Tow Hook Conflict.
I installed
steelhorse towhooks, so I have no conflict  unless its a side pull, then the strap may rub against the Westin Bracket.
I've also included 2 pics with a stock Nissan Tow hook. You can do it, but its tight and limits the use of the hook
I also installed one on a 2002, I've included pics at the bottom of this page

Install was a little harder, only due to that lower valance, and a little more play to get it properly centred.

Easier, but longer way would be to remove the whole valance.

With a 10" extension to my socket, I was able to work through the side of the valance with removing only one screw per side.

Lastly, the stock towhook could not fit with this bracket, unlike the 2000's.  It was replaced with a Steelhorse Hook.
