*I'm confused. I don't know how to get into the game! What do I do?

Have no fear! There are many things you can do to get into the game. We realize that there are many different story-lines in progress, and that it is difficult to try and follow just one of them, much less all. The easiest way to get into the game is to email the owner, Rogue. She will help you think of a way in. The second way you can get into a plot is by emailing someone directly. If you like someone's playing style, just email them and let them know. Ask if you can slip into their story line somehow! Finally, you can just do it the old way - just jump right in.

* I want to play my own character!! Not one from the original X-Men comics or TV show. I want to make one up and play that one!!

You can't. No one may play a made-up character as his/her first character. That is a BASIC RULE! Invented, made-up characters, come AFTER you have taken up a character from the original X-Men series. You choose a character from the original X-Men, e-mail the name of the character you picked to the list owner (make sure the char does not appear on the character Webpages - that means it is being played). After that, the owner either approves you character choice or turns it down. If the owner approves, you are free to post. Only a while after you have been playing you, can you ask to play a created-character.

*I want to create my own plot. Do I need to have just the basis, a story line idea, or do I need to have a full-blown plan, complete with beginning, middle and end?

You just need the idea. Run it past Rogue, then, if she approves, launch it to the game. You don't always need a definitive end, because it’s great to have the plots open to the rest of the game to shape. Its kinda like: HERE IS AN IDEA—GO & PLAY! That's the best way to do it.

*So now I have a plot line... how do I make a new character?

You have to play your first character for a week at least, before applying for a second character (made-up or not). Start off with emailing Rogue a profile of the character, name, powers etc. Make sure that you check to see if the character name is available. Once you have name approval and character approval, you can begin to play your character!

* If I join a plot, which I begin to dislike after a while, may I just remove my character and put that same character in another plot?

You may, providing you do so carefully and elegantly. Anyhow, it mustn’t be sudden. Other players need to be forewarned – both in the plot you are leaving and in the new plot to which you are heading. It all needs to appear natural and reasonable. Characters shouldn’t disappear and reappear out of the blue.

* What’s a character NOT supposed to do?

Your character is not supposed to be all-powerful and too huge. It shouldn’t POWER-PLAY against other characters  (for explanation about Power-Playing go to the RULES page). Your character is not allowed to be a god. Your character is not allowed to be all-knowing. Your character is not allowed to change his powers without prior approval. Your character is not allowed to kill any other character in the game without first obtaining EXPRESSED PERMISSION!!! If you have any doubt about your character doing ANYTHING to any other character - just ask!

* Can real events interact? I mean, let us say (HEAVEN FORBID) that there was a terrorist atrocity somewhere, could my character mention or acknowledge it somehow?

Since we've never specified what month/date/day it is, I don't think that we should relate to current events. As regards the past, you may, for instance, place Gambit on the Titanic doing the Leo pretty boy pose. However, you cannot in such a situation alter historical facts. Thus you cannot let Gambit prevent the Titanic from sinking.

* I notice that many characters who had died in the comics, are alive and functioning in the game. How can that be?

We lean greatly on the actual comics, yet this game is an adaptation of the comics – a variation on the theme. Hence some things can be modified. If the deceased character was good - and we all know how no character stays dead for too long in the X-Men world - you may play him or her - providing the owner approves.
