:Moon Shadow Weyr::Tripaldi Weyr

Nulkon had been at the Weyr for about a week now and he loved it. The greenriders were as flirty as their reputation suggested and Nulkon flirted back with ease. He was stuck doing chores and taking lessons though and so was not able to take the flirting to the next level but it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying.

“Good morning Anlaya,” Nulkon said with a grin and a wink as the green rider walked by. She said nothing, only grinning in return. Nulkon’s eyes sparkled as she walked off and he nudged one of the other candidates. He was supposed to be paying attention to the lesson but he just couldn’t focus. Granted Moon Shadow was still a small developing Weyr, but there were three greenriders and plenty of pretty girls in the kitchen staff. Nulkon sighed as the greenrider strode away and decided to start listening for a little while.

“When a dragon hatches it is often quite violent. Not by choice, but simply because it is so hungry and is looking for the one person there who will share their life with it. If a hatchling comes at you be sure you show no fear, if you look in the hatchlings eyes and feel nothing be sure to get out of its way. Once you have bonded your hatchling will be voraciously hungry. You must escort them from the sands where large bowls of meat will be waiting for you to feed your dragon. You must be sure not to let them gorge themselves and continuously insist that they chew the food. A hatchling with indigestion from eating their first meal too fast is not a pleasant thing to deal with, trust me. Now, any questions before we go on to discussing the dragon’s anatomy?”

Nulkon stopped paying attention again. He didn’t care about the dragon’s anatomy anymore than he cared about how best to feed a hungry hatchling. He would figure things out the day of the hatching. Right now all he was interested in was getting to know the female candidates and the greenriders. He looked around and nudged a girl sitting beside him. He thought he remembered someone calling her Naysi. She was rather good looking and he flashed her a winning smile. She gave no reaction, simply looking him over and turning her attention back to the Weyrlingmaster. Nulkon arched his eyebrows in surprise. He’d yet to meet a girl who didn’t at least blush or smile in return to his charming smile.

“Excuse me,” he said, tapping her lightly on the arm, “I’m Nulkon, and your name is?”

“Not important,” she replied, never turning to look at him. “I suggest you pay attention or at least leave me alone so I may.”

Nulkon scowled, amazed that his charms were failing him. The girl wasn’t even that pretty. He wondered suddenly if she had someone back wherever she’d come from but shook off the idea. She was too odd. She seemed to show no emotion on her face at all. Perhaps she thought herself strong but it just made her seem cold. Nulkon sighed and gave up on her. He swept his gaze over the other candidates present, flashing smiles at any of the females whose eye he managed to catch.
