17 May 2001- Today on the news it was mentioned that Americans use more electricity than anyone else in the world. Power usage is up from 28% in 1978 to 35% today. Personally, I hadn't thought about it much, but I was if you think about it...in

1978 only 8% of homes had microwave ovens...today it's over 90%. Wow! Add that with coffee makers, computers, dishwashers, hair dryers, refrigerators, washer/dryers, multiple TV's, stoves etc. etc. all going on in most American homes daily - it's no wonder we have a power crisis. I think I'll go turn off some lights or something right now! We will talk about GAS prices another time perhaps!!

23 May 2001 - Last night Jay Leno said something that's funny, but sadly true at the same time. He was referring to GW's recent speech to graduates at Yale. The comment GW made to the new graduates was that C students who graduate from Yale can still become President. Jay made the comment along the lines that Clinton lowered moral standards and GW has now lowered academic standards for young Americans! What's next?

30 May 2001 - In light of my month long attempt to drop 10 lbs in anticipation of summer and summer clothing ~ I have a newfound respect for people who lose enormous amounts of weight! There are so many ups and downs and mental anguish etc... I have been fairly successful in dropping about 4 lbs. The one thing I think that is the key is exercise. Lots of it and I don't like it. I heard someone say on tv, "You can't be fat if you don't have the lifestyle to support it!" I totally agree with that and that saying goes through my head when I find myself plopping down on the couch with my remote and craving for cheese nips!

Sorry! I just couldn't resist this one! I think the cartoon speaks for itself so I'll just keep my mouth shut and smile! Did you all see one of the guys that DID win the powerball? The previously convicted armed robber? It will be interesting to see how he spends his 47 million!
