July 31th

Evening everyone!

  • I added a 10 minute or so clip of Season Six Bloopers. This is a must see. Lucy is halarious beyond belief in this clip. The clip is a 34 meg download but it is off me so shouldn't be too long. I had to put it in Realmedia format because for some reason my avi would not convert to windows media, but it is a fairly good quality and just a little larger than usual. So enjoy! :)

  • Mary D over at the Australian Information Page has a scan up of the Out interview with Lucy Lawless. With an older photo where she looks like Cher but good info on what is going on with her! :)

  • RENEE IN LONDON: SMALL TIDBIT OF NEWS!

Several fans have asked whether still photography will be allowed during the weekend, and of course the answer is YES (including Renee O'Connor's question and answer session).

However, during Renee and Tim's performance in the play we are going to request that no photography be done since this is a theatrical performance.

Hope that works for everyone, and for those still not signed up to be with us in London, below are the basics about the convention. Tickets are available at: http://www.creationent.com/cal/

  • And a second article at Mailtribune.com is available regarding the accident Bruce Campbell experienced on July 26th, 2003.

    July 29th

  • Hi everyone. I noticed at times some people have issues downloading off me. If you are using a browser older than IE 6.0 you need to go into Tools, Internet Options, Advanced Tab, and under Browsing, passive ftp transfer is enabled. That or update your browser to 6.0 at Microsoft. Otherwise you may have issues downloading off my server. I hope this helps those of you having issues!

  • I updated link to my Xena software page, changed a few links on the Coffee Talk 2,Last Dance in Pasadena pages and fixed one link, clip three on Before the Curtain Rises with Renee and put a couple of my XWP Music Mixes back online. I will continue on tomorrow to fix links as well I am trying to convert an avi I made of Season Six Bloopers to windows media to post tomorrow. So keep an eye out for those. ;)

    July 28th

  • Hi everyone. I know I haven't officially updated all week but I have been fixing some dead links, primarily the Music Video page. All the videos are back online and I have added two more new Buffy Videos! I will be fixing more links tomorrow and will post later in the evening.

  • A host of international and local celebrities have let their creative juices flow to support suicide prevention charity Yellow Ribbon. Kiwi stars, including Peter Jackson, Lucy Lawless, Witi Ihimaera and Charlotte Dawson, have also offered a variety of artistic impressions - from red high heel shoes to signatures - in support of Yellow Ribbon.,/i> Read the rest of the article at Stuff.

  • Doh! Homer's dream role as Kiwi PM 27 July 2003 AY CARAMBA! It's said we get the politicians we deserve - but Homer J Simpson for New Zealand prime minister? Only in his dreams. A Simpsons comic has Homer coming home drunk and waking to find he's become our PM - surrounded by Kiwis, sheep and a framed picture of Xena star Lucy Lawless. The rest of this second article is at Stuff as well.

  • A third article about a singer originally from Nepal that is know as the bruce Springsteen of Nepal has a mention of Lucy and how he had his picture taken with her. I am assuming she is a fan. The article is available at Sunspot.net.

  • Two articles are online regarding the filming of Lucy's new movie Boogeyman. The first is from the NZ Western Leader:

HORROR FEATURE A DREAM by Charlotte Cox There's no such thing as the "boogeyman". But the makers of a new horror feature film, partly filmed in west Auckland, want to convince people otherwise. Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi are from Pacific Renaissance Pictures, the company that produced Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules. They have merged with United States company Senator International to form Ghost Pictures, which is shooting Boogeyman around Auckland until late August.

Set building began at the Henderson Valley Studios in May and the 100-strong crew includes several west Aucklanders. The studios are filed with activity as workers add the finishing touches to the interior of a decrpit old American home. The spooky "house" includes two identicle staircases, old floral wallpaper, a nursery, bedrooms, bathroom and an old kitchen. Exterior filmimg was shot at Karaka.

Boogeyman stars, Tim Watson, Emily Deschanel, Tory Mussett, Lucy Lawless, Skye McCole Bartusiak, Charles Mesure and Phillip Gordon. Mr Tapert says west Auckland is an ideal location. "This is a project that lends itself to shooting here. It doesn't need to be a big urban environment that you couldn't fake in New Zealand," he says. Filming begins at the Waitakere City Council-owned studios this week. (Very big thanks to Crispian at Kiwiattic for the info!)

and the second is just a small mention but talks about Waitakare City Council committing more to film at the Auckland Film Summit.

  • And the last bit of news is a small scare for Brice Campbell reported at Zap2it today:

Bruce Campbell Injured in Car Crash
    Mon, Jul 28, 2003, 10:07 AM PT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Actor and director Bruce Campbell, 45, suffered minor injuries in an accident this weekend in Oregon, according to the AP.

Campbell was driving Saturday evening when Steven Michael Sellars' Jeep struck the actor's car.

Sellars, 36, was ejected from his vehicle, struck the windshield of the Explorer and was listed in critical condition Sunday with head injuries.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department cited Sellars for driving under the influence of intoxicants, assault, failing to maintain lane of travel, driving while suspended and for outstanding traffic tickets.

Campbell, who makes his home in Jacksonville, Ore., was treated and released from the hospital.

Known for the wise-cracking character Ash, who sports a chainsaw in place of one hand in the "Evil Dead" horror spoofs, Campbell has a part in 2002's "Spider-Man" and its upcoming sequel, "Spider-Man II" to be released in 2004.

Have a good night everyone! :)

    July 21st

  • I added a clip of Season One Bloopers. It is a 15 megabyte windows media file. It was a nice to revisit Lucy in her early years and crack up at the same time. The link is to download off my computer so if you have any problems just email me at xena2010@shaw.ca and I will try and help you out.

  • I added some new links to the article section. There are quite a few new articles out on Lucy's new movie she is going to be filming called Boogeyman

  • Todays Sunday News paper had an article about Lucy's latest role. Pieces of the article read:

'Lucy Lawless is starring in a blockbuster Hollywood movie being secretly shot around Auckland. The $40 million horror film Boogeyman is being produced by her husband Rob Tapert, who made Xena:Warrior Princess - which made Lucy an international sex symbol....... Kiwi actors in the big-budget film include the star of Street Legal, Charles Mesure, Louise Wallace and former Shortland Street nurse Robyn Malcolm. American stars include Barry Watson, of cult teen movie Sorority Boys, and Emily Deschanel, of hit US TV show Providence. Also starring is Tory Mussett, who appreared in The Matrix Reloaded alongside Keanu Reeves.............. Tapet says Boogeyman is going to be a "rollercoaster ride of screaming horror" that will make people drop their popcorn.

If you would like a copy of the paper, we will be happy to oblige, remembering that Sunday papers are often hard to come by after Sunday . The paper is US$3.50 and shipping of US$4 = total of US$7.50. Just let us know.

    Take care

  • Lucy reveals what her role is in the movie from the Out Magazine - August 2003 Issue:

  • Here is the transcript for Out Magazine. I will make it's own page soon.:

    VOICES by Michael Musto

LUCY LAWLESS (the accompanying pic is a few years old. It's from the photoshoot of the one where Lucy kinda looks like Cher)

Michael Musto goes head-to-head with our favorite warrior princess, trading barbs about her show; lesbian subtext, and spooky sex.

Making lesbians swoon, New Zealander Lucy Lawless spent six years as the butchly beautiful title character in Xena: Warrior Princess. Well, she hasn't given up the fight. In a five part British [sic] Discovery Channel series called Warrior Women, Lawless investigates strong females such as Joan of Arc and Mulan. They had nothing on her.

Musto: Hi Lucy! This Discovery job is a perfect fit for you, isn't it?

Lawless: It's about ancient warrior women, so I was a no-brainer. I deserted pilot season to run off to China, but I felt like when I was 80 I'd kick myself for turning this down.

Musto: As for your last gig: Were Xena and Gabrielle really in love?

Lawless: Where there's smoke, there's got to be fire. At the end, Xena says she had a very special friend. It was clear from the writing that it was a love relationship. I thought, "Yep, she's gay. You just outed my character". It was all innuendo prior to that. It was fun to make the subtext go on. It became supertext to me.

Musto: But Xena did have some boyfriends along the way, right?

Lawless: Yes, but I now think she was being bi-curious!

Musto: What I'm curious about is whether Gabrielle is now having sex with Xena's decapitated ghost.

Lawless: I hope so. I wouldn't mind people having spooky sex. I'm a long way from home [doing interviews in London] and having spooky sex alone, just thinking of my husband. You start thinking of the bellman funny after you've been away. Asking the people who frisk you at the airport to do it one more time!

Musto: I know--I go in for repeat prostate exams. Are lesbians ever disappointed that you, Lucy, are not gay?

Lawless: That doesn't appear to me when I meet them. I've always been grateful to them for picking up on my show first. I feel they made it hip. I don't think they require Lucy to be gay, they're just glad I was associated with something that gave them pleasure and inspiration.

Musto: I bet they also love that you played Rizzo in Grease. Isn't that a lesbian subtext role? Rosie O'Donnell played it too.

Lawless: I don't know! She was getting laid. She's sexually liberated.

Musto: Sounds lesbian to me. Any other liberated roles coming up for you?

Lawless: In "The Ugly Americans", I'm playing the female Frank'N'Furter character, a sort of S/M madam. Why does it happen to me, Michael? I have this culty, weird sexual persona that people have imprinted on me. I live in a nether region of the entertainment industry. It's very fun, and it really has legs. But I'm so straight. I'm so boring.

Musto: Would like to play just a regular housewife?

Lawless: Only if she was in---

    Musto: Stiletto heels!

Lawless: ---moral or psychological peril. I like to play women in difficult situations. But in Hollywood they think I'm seven feet tall and muscular and aggressive. (laughs). And I can be!

  • Curious as to why Renee decided to go back to blonde hair? It is because of the "mockumentary" (Reality eXtreme) she is doing for Creative Light Entertainment. Sorry not for a Xena movie as some may have of thought, not yet anyway. :P

There are also rumours going round Renee could be involved in a series produced by Creative Light Entertainment but that was the scuttlebutt at Comic Con. Time will tell if this is true.(Thanks to Mary D for the info!)

  • Hi everyone. I know I haven't updated for quite a few days. I want to thank those that emailed me to see if I was alright. I am fine, just been distugstingly busy. :( As well I was trying to come up with a short term solution for my download issues. So I loaded software that allows people to download off my computer like I was a server from links off my website. So tonight I added two new MP3's. The first is called "If I Could Be Like Xena". I am not sure who sings this buy a nice Xenite named Betti passed it along to me so it is up on the Lucy Lawless Mp3 page for now. as well I added an awesome song by a European group called Sinergy. The song they sing is called "The Warrior Princess." I just think this song is incredible. Definite download this puppy!

  • And it looks like Lucy will be in a new movie being filmed in New Zealand and produced by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi:

Ghost House scares up New Zealand business

Sandy George in Sydney 17 July 2003 04:00

Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, producers of the New Zealand shot Xena: Warrior Princess, have returned to the country to shoot the horror pic Boogeyman.

Tapert and Raimi say they have produced over 300 hours of action drama in New Zealand from 1993-2001 under the Pacific Renaissance Pictures banner and have injected more than US$400 million into the New Zealand economy.

They have also signed Lucy Lawless, who plays Xena, for one of the main roles in Boogeyman.

Boogeyman is the first film produced by Ghost House Pictures, the commercial horror/sci-fi/fantasy label formed by the pair alongside Senator International. Sony's Screen Gems will release the film in North America and Roadshow has local and Australian rights.

It is being directed by Stephen Kay (Get Carter). The cast also includes Barry Watson, Emily Deschanel, Tory Mussett, Charles Mesure and Philip Gordon.

New Zealand post house Oktober is doing extensive visual effects work, including the creation of the Boogeyman himself, and shooting will take place in and around Auckland until late August.

"We want to make visceral, dynamic, kinetic, horror movies designed as a series of scares; shocks where the audience drops their popcorn," says Tapert of Ghost House Pictures. "Boogeyman is exactly that kind of roller-coaster ride of screaming horror."

Other pictures on the Ghost House Pictures slate include The Grudge, the English-language remake of the hit Japanese film Ju-on, and the vampire thriller 30 Days of Night, which is being co-developed by Columbia Pictures.

Lucy, resting up in New Zealand after traveling the world working on the "Warrior Women" documentary series, joined the cast of "Boogeyman" now filming in New Zealand.

This is the first feature film being produced by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi's Ghost House Productions for Senator International to be distributed by Sony's Screen Gems in North America.

Barry Watson ("7th Heaven") stars as Tim, a young man who returns home to face his fears of terrible events that took place in his bedroom when he was a child. Lucy plays Tim's mother in flashback scenes of his childhood. The movie also stars Emily Deschanel ("The Alamo") as his neighbor, Kate. The cast also includes Tory Mussett ("The Matrix Reloaded," "Peter Pan"), Skye McCole Bartusiak ("Against the Ropes," "Don't Say a Word"), Philip Gordon and Charles Mesure (the Archangel Michael in "Xena").

The movie is being directed by Stephen Kay (remake of "Get Carter" and "The Last Time I Committed Suicide") and written by Eric Kripke, Juliet Snowden, Stiles White and Darren Lemke. Filming is expected to last into late August.
