Orphan Of War :
In an episode of Hercules, "The Gauntlet", Salmoneus chides Xena for her lack of "maternal instincts," then frantically explains. "Not that you don't have maternal instincts, but with all the fighting ... " Indeed"Xena's maternal instincts led her secretly to give up her beloved infant son, Solan, to protect him from her enemies. Now, in yet another rocky family reunion, the nine-year-old boy tries to kill Xena, knowing only of her evil past and never suspecting she is his mother. But he soon finds her an inspiring guardian as she defends him and his foster father, the Centaur Kaleipus, against a warlord called Dagnine, who uses the fabled "Ixion Stone" to release the evil of the Centaur race and become a hideous giant. Xena kills Dagnineby triggering a huge crossbow, and leaves Solan in safety forging a bond with her son deeper than she had dared hope for .
Remember Nothing :
As Xena learns what life would have been like had the Warrior Princess never existed. The three fates, grateful to Xena repelling an attack on their temple, let her live in a world where she had remained a peaceful villager. But grim surprises await her: without a Warrior Princess to slay predatory warlords like Mezentius, Krykus, and Caputius, they have joined forces to conquer new lands; and without a Warrior Princess to save Potidaea from raiders, Gabrielle has grown up an embittered slave girl. Even Xena's joy at finding her younger brother Lyceus still alive tempered by his insistence that he would rather die fighting for freedom than surrender to tyrants. At last, battling with Lyceus against the three warlords, Xena sheds blood and is returned to her original world, more at peace with her choices in life and, as she tells Gabrielle,
" more myself than I've ever been".
Giant Killer :
Goliath is a giant with a heart, who once saved Xena's life in battle and has since been tracking the brutish, and still larger, Gareth, who murdered his family. Xena finds that Goliath has been used by the Philistines as a mercenary to persecute the Israelites, and tries to convice her old friend to quit. But when Goliath refuses, she first battles him herself, then devises a strategy to let the pious young Israelit, David, defeat his far more powerful foe.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun :
A Halloween episode that's weird, startling, and riveting. Xena and Gabrielle set out to stop Bacchus, a god who commands a cult of young maidens whom he has turned into vampire-like predators called Bacchae. The two heroines are joined by the boastful, bumbling Joxer, and by the head (just the head) of the minstrel Orpheus, whose music can calm the Bacchae but whose body has been stolen by Bacchus. Along the way Xena battles Bacchae; flying skeletons known as Dryads; and Gabrielle, who is bitten by one of the Bacchae and transformed into one herself. On realizing that no human can kill Bacchus, Xena allows Gabrielle to bite her, too, and then flies at Bacchus with the harpened bone of a Dryad, destroying him and lifting his curse from Gabrielle, Orpheus, and the Bacchae maidens.
