Return Of Callisto : |
Callisto tests Gabrielle's goodness, idealism, and pacifism when she murders Perdicas just a day after he and Gabrielle had married. When Gabrielle appears bent on revenge, Xena reluctantly teaches her to use a sword but counsels, "You need to mourn", hoping to keep her friend from an act of violence that could harm her body and soul. Gabrielle slips alone into Callisto's lair but cannot bring herself to kill even this most hateful creature, and she is instead taken prisoner. So, too, is Xena, but a diversion by Joxer helps her break free, and she catches Callisto after a chariot race along the shore. The two tumble into quicksand, leading Callisto to sparkle at the thought of their spending eternity in Tartarus together, but Xena uses her chakram and whip to pull herself out while Callisto sinks to her death. |

Warrior .. Princess .. Tramp : |

Greek tragedy meets French farce when Xena encounters two look-alikes: the sweetly naive Princess Diana and the scheming, lustful, but not overly bright Meg. The three take turns impersonating each other, with riotous results. Lucy Lawless has a comic field day playing a dizzying succession of characters (Xena playing Diana, Meg playing Diana, Diana playing Xena). Xena foils two kidnappings ( Diana and her new baby ), and Meg gets an unexpected second chance in life as a cook in the royal kitchen. |

MeanWhile, without a god of war, peaceful like Gabrielle have lost the half-discipline to control their anger, and only warriors like Xena and Ares himself can now control their passions. Xena and Aaares slip into the competition and expose it as a hoax planned by Sisyphus whom Hades has promised to make the new god of war if he delivers "the world's ten best warriors" to the Underworld.Xena retrieves the sword for Ares, who confines Sisyphus to the Underworld, restores Gabrielle's peaceful ways, and reubites Xena's body and spirit on earth while sending Callisto's body back to languish in Tartarus. |
