The Three sisters

Climbing above the snow line, Xena reaches the mythical Pinnacles Mountains. Legend has it they are stalked by deadly creatures. Among them, the three sisters are the most foul.

Sketch: Now that you're in the Pinnacles Mountains and you need to get to its Temple, you must pass the Three Sisters. They are each a huge snake with the head of a human woman. Their hair is made up of tiny snakes. Their faces are so hideous even monsters fear their name... (Somebody call a beautician here!) You'll encounter them one by one, and every time they die, a gate will open for you to continue the path. A sister can be killed easily because of a quickly declining health bar, but you must beware of their magical sight which will turn you into stone, eating up your health quickly. (The three Gorgon Sisters are one of the most notorious monsters in Greek Mythology. Soon from now, I'll post up the myth of how the hero Theseus killed them. So stick by for more.)

Important note: There are various health power-ups in this level, hidden in vases. But since they appear randomly each time you start the level, I haven't listed them. You can count on a decent supply, though.

Walkthrough: Get scroll#1 in front of you. Hop over to the huge platform and prepare for the first Gorgon sister. She will shoot arrows at you. Avoid them. The easiest way to kill a Gorgon is to point the Chakram toward her neck and chop off her head. For the more "expert method: What you must remember with these Gorgons, is that they only use their stone-transforming magic when you attack them. So do the following; while avoiding their arrows, sneak up to them and hit them hard. Immediately run away and seek cover behind the pillars on the platform since the Gorgons will use their stone magic then; which you can recognise by the flashy green beams coming from their eyes. If they keep following you, keep running until they stop their magic and return to their arrow attack. Repeat the trick until the Gorgon dies.

There is also another, quicker way to kill a Gorgon, but it will eat up about a third of your health bar. If you're confident enough, you can try it anyway. It's this; make the Gorgon use the stone spell and keep slamming on her, ignoring the spell. As soon as the Gorgon dies, your status will be normal again, but with little health. Remember to check all the vases for health power-ups.

When the Gorgon is dead, a gate opens by itself. Go through it and get scroll#2 on the mountain patch. This is a nasty bit. Those Dryads (the skeletons with black wings) can push you off the mountains. I recommend not fighting them but just run past the narrow curve around the mountain until you reach the gate and platform with the second Gorgon. The gate you entered through will close, so the Dryads can't harm you here. Use the same Gorgon-defeating trick on her, but also, get the Resurrection Jewel, a Golden Shield and a (bare) health power-up on this platform. Either use the Golden Shield here or on the last Gorgon, coming up later.

When the second Gorgon dies, the gate you just came in through will reopen, only it will lead toward another area now! This sure is a magical place!

Continue along the mountain patches to the third platform. Do not get that Resurrection Jewel yet, first, get all health power-ups you can find. When you're ready for the last Gorgon, Medusa, pick up the Resurrection Jewel which will trigger her arrival (just on the spot where you found the jewel). You'd best use your Golden Shield here so that you can kill her easily. When she's dead and the new gate opens, run through it, jump further down the path. Kill a couple of Dryads and step onto the golden, circular platform which will transport you toward the hardest level, in my opinion...
