Otto

Otto was one of Zechs' most trusted soldiers, and he was almost like his aide. Otto is also one of the very few who know of Zech's true identity, Milliardo Peacecraft. We do not know how he knows, but he must have learned somehow just like how Noin found out. Otto was very loyal to Zechs, and it was clear that he would do anything for him. As the series goes on, Otto reveals that he knows a great deal about Zechs, and even surprised Zechs himself when he told him that he knew that Zechs and Noin had graduated together from the Lake Victoria Military Academy. Otto then plays a major role by taking on the responsiblity of restoring the Tallgeese, the MS salvaged from Corsica after Walker gave it to Zechs. He also contributed a great deal by volunteering to be its first test pilot. However, Otto found the Tallgeese to be a dangerous and unpredictable MS, and during the trials he was badly injured, but still managed to send the Tallgeese to Zechs, now at the Lake Victoria base. There, Zechs decides to launch an attack in northern Europe, the site of the former Sanc Kingdom, the place that Zechs was born... and was a prince of.

Zechs, a little nervous about the new MS, decided that he would not be a coward in the sight of his country, and used the MS Tallgeese even before giving it a test run. He knew about the risks, and knew it was going to be hard, but he couldn't turn back now. The mission ended in disaster when the Alliance forces stationed there used hidden beam weapons against the OZ forces, and a number of Aries were destoryed and Zechs, in the Tallgeese, fought to maintain control of his suit. Finally, he had to retreat after suffering a minor heart attack. That night, overhearing some of Zechs' hair-raising experiences in the Tallgeese, Otto decided to go alone and beat the Alliance forces, and he planned in the process to destory the Tallgeese, the troublesome suit that he thought was going to kill Zechs if he used it again. Not caring about his own health and life, he sacrificed himself to beat the Alliance by ramming into their headquarters. Before he died, he screamed his final words, "Long live King Zechs!!", and the Alliance forces were destoryed, but the Tallgeese remained intact. Zechs was greatly saddened by Otto's death, and blamed it on himself, calling himself a destoryer of his own men. This was used as motivation for Zechs to master the Tallgeese, which he did superbly later on, with skill and determination.
