Zechs Merquise/Milliardo Peacecraft

Zechs... A man of nobility and chivary, and at the same time, bears a dark past. He was born to the Peacecraft family in the year A.C. 174 as their prince. He was well brought up, and was to be the Peacecraft family's heir. But the Peacecrafts, advocating King Peacecraft's ideal of total pacifism, was the target of many groups, including the United Earth Sphere Alliance. Then in A.C. 182 the Sanc Kingdom was destoryed, Princess Relena was taken in by a friend of King Peacecraft, and the eight year old Prince Milliardo was missing. He was belived to have died. It was years before we hear of him again, but this time in the year A.C. 189 when a person named Zechs Merquise and Lucrezia Noin graduated from the Special's Lake Victoria Military Academy, earning the first and second best scores in the history of the Academy, respectivly. Zechs had also made a friend within the Specials, 19 year old Colonel Trieze Kushrenada. They went on many missions together, and it was Trieze who first referred to Zechs as the "Lightning Baron" for his dazzling skill with the mobile suit. Then, in an encounter in the year A.C. 191 with a rebel faction trying to steal some of OZ's new Aries, the 15 year old Zechs meets his long lost sister, Relena. He rescues her, but does not reveal his identity to her. Years pass, and Zechs learns of an Operation M from OZ headquaters. He is sent to intercept the mysterious Operation. This was to be a key point in his life.

In April, A.C. 195, Zechs and his men were probably the first to locate and fight the unknown mobile suits known as "Gundams". He then indirectly fights the Gundams, but with no success. He then calls himself a "Destoryer of his own men" and becomes depressed. But then in Corsica, he is shown a 20 year old suit called the Tallgeese and he decides to take it to the Lake Victoria Base to complete it. While at the Lake Victoria Base, he joins up with Noin, and she helps him with his work. Zechs then takes part in the Coup to overthrow the Alliance Military and sets up OZ bases in Africa. After the Tallgeese was completed, he decided to take his revenge against the Alliance and attacks the Alliance base in the former Sanc Kingdom. But it was delayed due to the fact that he could not effeciantly pilot the Tallgeese and had a heart attack. But due to the actions of Otto, he was able to reclaim the Sanc Kingdom. There he declares that he is unfit to lead the Sanc Kingdom because his hands are stained with blood, and that Relena should be the person. He will fight to make that happen.

Zechs also takes part in an operation to transfer the new Taurus space mobile suits to Siberia. He is told to engage Gundam 01 there. During the engagement, Tallgeese's left arm is damaged, but the duel is called off due to a blunder by Colonel Une to use the colonies as a "shield" to attack the Gundams. Gundam 01 then self-detonates, but before it does, it's pilot Heero Yuy comes out of the cockpit and Zechs gets a first glimpse at the pilot that he was facing. It was a boy of no more than 15. Zechs was astonished, but the pilot left a lasting impression on Zechs, and he was set on rebuilding the Gundam 01 to face Heero one more time to decide things. This was the beginning of a long rivalry for the two.

Zechs rebuilds the Gundam 01 and asks Noin to find Heero. It's pretty much impossible to survive that explosion, but Zechs just has a feeling that Heero did. And Heero did survive. When Heero and Trowa got to the north pole, Heero, not wanting to accept "charity" from the enemy and chose to fight in Trowa's Gundam Heavyarms. They had an intense duel, and Zechs had the upper hand before Relena showed up. He then leaves OZ and swears to protect the Princess and heir to the Sanc Kingdom, Relena. And it is there that Relena learns that Zechs is her long lost brother, Milliardo. Zechs then heads into space with the help of Howard, who found Zechs after an encounter with Alliance mobile suits. And during the battle he lost his mask and denounces ties with OZ for good. He then goes to the colonies to try to understand the situation from different points, in the name of the Sanc Kingdom. He also fights OZ's mobile suit forces in space, and helps the Sanc Kingdom in many ways, but also gives the Romefeller Foundation an excuse to attack the Sanc Kingdom, saying that if this is the Sanc Kingdom's true intentions, it will declear war. So Relena was forced to denounce Milliardo as her brother. But deep down she knows that he is doing everything he can to help the Sanc Kingdom.

Then, after the Sanc Kingdom is attacked, Zechs goes with his new mobile suit, the Wing Zero (He had discarded the Tallgeese after a battle with the OZ space force) to the destoryed Sanc Kingdom. He was too late. There he meets Heero, and they start a meaningless battle. Then afterwards when they are messed up by their mobile suits, they switch suits and fight their way out of the hordes of mobile dolls. Then Zechs is approached by White Fang leader Quinze Barton and is told that they are revolting in the colonies, and they needed a good leader and a symbol. Zechs, with nothing to protect after the destruction of the Sanc Kingdom, agreed. What follows is sheer madness for some people to understand, but you'll find my essay here.

After Zechs joins the White Fang, the political map in other space is redrawn with Milliardo Peacecraft at the center and the White Fang's symbol, the Gundam Epyon. He then declares that he will eleminate the Earth and anything that will stand in the way of the colonies destiny. In truth, they were only representing a small portion of the colony citizens. Then the World Nation, with Trieze being their new leader since Queen Relena was thrown out of power, sent mobile suits from all over the world to battle the White Fang and their new space battleship, the Libra. The Gundams also intervene. Then Zechs, or rather Milliardo, goes into one final duel with Heero to decide things and finally decides to sacrifice himself in the end. He is not heard from until one year later...

A person showed up at preventer headquaters after Mariemeia decleared war on the newly formed Earth Sphere Unified Nation. That person was Milliardo Peacecraft. No one knows how he had survived, but then joins Noin in the fight against the Mariemeia Army. After the war, Milliardo went with Noin to help with his sister Relena's Terraforming project on Mars. And our story concludes there.
