Steps to Create the Pivot Table and Chart Report

1. Select a single sell inside the database;
2. Select Data / Pivot Table and PivotChart Report. The Pivot Table Wizard Step 1 appears. Ensure that the Microsoft Excel List and the Pivot Table options are selected and click Next;
3. The Pivot Table Wizard Step 2 is shown. Ensure that the range selected is the range of the table you want to summarize. Click Next.
4. The Pivot Table Wizard Step 3 of 3 appears. Note that in Excel 95 and 97 a step 3 of 4 is shown which is the Layout step. This step was replaced in Excel 2000 or later with the Layout Button found in the Step 3 of 3 .If you press the Layout button you can build the Pivot Table in this step by dragging the fields to the Pivot Layout. You can however ignore the Layout button (as this was included for compatibility with earlier versions of Excel) and build the layout of the Pivot table in a later stage, as we shall see.
5. In Pivot Table Wizard Step 3 of 3 select New Worksheet and click finish. As shown below, a new Sheet is created and looks similar to the following illustration.

If you have Excel 2000 the table fields are shown at the bottom of the Pivot Table toolbar as above. If you use Excel 2002 the fields appear to a separate floating window.
6. Create the Pivot table by dragging the fields to the relevant box of the worksheet. To ensure that the fields are placed to the relevant position watch the miniature Pivot Table that appears next to the mouse pointer.  The fields will be placed in the area shown with blue shading in the miniature Pivot Table.
- Drag the Product field to the "Drop Row Fields Here".
- Drag the Region field to the "Drop Column Fields Here".
- Drag the Sales field to the "Drop Data Items Here".

The Pivot Table report is now ready. If you want to change the orders of the regions you can place the mouse at the bottom of the region titles and drag them at the appropriate position.

To crease a Pivot Chart just click on the Chart Wizard button.
