A Brief Note on Macros

Macros, although they are very useful, can be used to create viruses. In order to reduce the risk of Viruses, Excel has a  "Security Level" which can be set up when you select Tools / Macro / Security… .

Before you open the file you have to ensure that the security is at the minimum level. If the security level is High (which is the default setting since Excel 2002 ) the Macros will not be able to be run.

With the Medium level of security you can choose on whether to enable or disable macros. The message you will receive when you open the file containing macros will be similar to the illustration below.

You will have to click on the "Enable Macros" button so that the Macros can be executed.
