History: Yuriko Oyama is the daughter of the crimelord said to have invented the adamantium-bone bonding process. She has always lived by the samurai code that bound the Oyama clan together for generations, training in martial and zen skills since she was a child. Her family are one of the oldest crime syndicates still active in Tokyo. Long a target of Yakuza assassins, the lithe Oyama proved to be very hard to kill, her heightened agility and martial skills often besting the competition. When it was discovered she was something more than human, the government joined in the hunt.
Yuriko fled to a safe house in Canada and than's when Colonel William Stryker came to the rescue. Stryker, a military scientist and comander, was a friend and colleague of her father (Kenji Oyama). Yuriko has known Stryker since she was a child so when he offered to help her, she accepted. But little did she know what she was getting herself into. Eager to recapture his trump card Wolverine, Stryker manipulated Oyama into working for him through the use of a serum derived from the brain matter of Mutant X-143 (Jason Stryker, the Colonel's son).
After reprogramming through a combination of cyber-implantation, brainwashing and mind wipes, Yuriko was ready for further physical enhancements; an adamantium laced cyber skeleton wet wired the assassin's experienced form into something even more deadly. A weapon that could easily counter Wolverine. Further proof of this can be found in Oyama's extendable adamantium claws.
Because of her fierce temper, and battle ethic Stryker christened his bodyguard Lady Deathstrike. A name Yuriko has lived up to on several occassions and one she will adhere to should she ever face Wolverine. |
