But, when the evil Malificent shows up univnvited, she declares: The princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But, before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, she shall prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die! |
At the celebration of Aurora's birth, two good fairies give Aurora the gifts of beauty and song. |
The third good fairy uses her gift to help. |

To protect Aurora from Malificent's wrath, the three fairies decide to raise her in a cottage in the woods. They will pose as three peasant women until her sixteenth birthday, calling the child Briar Rose. |

Soon enough, it is Briar Roses's sixteenth birthday. To surprise Briar Rose with a cake and a beautiful dress, the three fairies send her to pick some berries. |

Hearing a gorgeous singing voice, Prince Phillip (to whom Aurora is unknowingly betrothed) speeds off to find the source of the beautiful sound. |
