September 28, 2003: Rockcod fishing
Good rockcod and lingcod action this year. And DFG hasn't set a seasonal end date yet. Party boats are limiting out even though we did see one go deeper than 120ft today.
August 8, 2003: HOT Albacore bite
Very good albacore/tuna bite right now. About 40 miles out West of the Farallon islands.
June 9, 2003: Good salmon bite
Check out the TackleTour forum for up to date reports. http://www.tackletour.com
May 31, 2003: Fishing is HOT
Trout and bass fishing in this area is pretty good right now.
May 24, 2003: California Delta
If you're headed out there, bring your topwater gear. Also a lot of sunblock, liquids, and a good attitude.
April 18, 2003: Lexington
Ok, some of you must have read the Mercury News Fishing report. They say people are catching huge trout there. This one guy claims he caught many fish and the smallest one was 2lbs. Hmm... I have to check that place out this weekend.
March 30, 2003: Lexington...again
They are supposed to stock Lexington Res. this week. The water is definitely nice for some fishing there. The launch ramp IS open.
March 10, 2003: Trout Fishing
Spring is near and local lakes are now being stocked with trout. Check with DFG's homepage for when they stock. But hey, get out your gear and get ready. Anyone trying out any new lures/bait this year for trout fishing? Let me know what and how you like it.
February 25, 2003: Fred Hall Show in Long Beach
The Fred Hall show will be happening in Long Beach, CA on March 5-9. This should be a really nice show.
February 23, 2003: Lexington
That place is filled again. But fishing isn't so hot due to the low water levels for about 1 year.
Jan 29-Feb 2, 2003: ISE Show in San Mateo
Don't miss the largest fishing show in the Bay Area. Check out the International Sportsmen's Exposition in San Mateo, CA. If you're a boat person, this year they have a lot more boats displayed. Took approx. 1/3 of the Expo Hall floor space.
January 6, 2003: Muddy Waters
Well, seems like the past storms has done a big part on the inland waters. The lakes are muddy but clearing. Wait until it clears a little before heading out. Oneill Forebay is really muddy this weekend. Dont even bother going until a week or so later. Hopefully before the next storms arrive. Local lakes are muddy, depends where, but clearing somewhat. Good luck.
November 24, 2002: Crabs Crabs Crabs
Commercial fishermen are hauling in way too many Dungeness crabs. Visit the harbors in Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and San Fracisco if you want some fresh yummy crabs. HMB sells them for 3.50 per pound.
November 7, 2002: Lake Updates
Anderson is closed for now. I was told that it will be closed for one year. Lexington is at 2 percent capacity. That's going to ruin that place for many years. Tioga Rd in Yosemite is closed. I wouldn't go up there in this huge storm anyway. Lots of people flocked to Oneill for stripers and didn't get what they wanted. Not that many fish there.
September 30: Yosemite Update
Here's a quick Yosemite update. It's COLD and many campgrounds are now closed. Tuolumne Meadows campsites are all closed. You can't camp up there anymore. Only Porcupine flats is open, but that will soon be closed. The trout fishing season up there is over. Now we have to wait until next season. It snowed up there this weekend.
Anderson launch ramp CLOSED!
The launch ramp at Anderson Reservoir is closed due to repairs and such. All traffic is diverted to either Coyote or Calero. That's going to be tough to get a spot of launch now. Good luck
June 2002: Kayak Fishing
Want to try fishing from a Kayak? You can now rent kayaks from Outback Adventures at Steven's Creek Reservoir on weekends when they are there.
April 22, 2002: Anderson Reservoir Team Tournament
The Tournament takes place this Saturday. You might not want to go there.
April 20, 2002: Carp everywhere!
It was an amazing site. I saw over 100 carp at Anderson Reservoir today. Just sitting there near the surface of the water, jumping, and probably saying Hi to eat other, if you know what I mean.
April 5-7, 2002: Yosemite National Park Update
First camping trip of the year. Too bad the rivers aren't open to fishing yet. All the rivers are running really nicely right now. At the end of April it will be at max and fishing season begins for the rivers and streams in California. Can't wait for that. You know where I will be when the season opens up again. And of course in the Eastern Sierras.
On the way to Yosemite I drove by Don Pedro. The water is really low right now. I did see some people fishing in there both from shore and boats. Well, have fun all!
March 21, 2002: Fishing?
What happened to the fish in Stevens Creek Reservoir?
March 16, 2002: Updates
- Updated the Steven's Creek page with pictures.
- Updated Campbell Perc Ponds with more information.
- And... How's fishing in this cold weather? Check the latest report.
February 3, 2002: New Daiwa reel??
Daiwa is about to release a new TD-X reel in March.
Check it out.
