Wee Bit O History Of St. Patrick
St Patrick was born in Wales around 386 AD. He was given the birth name Marwyn. St. Patrick considered himself a pagan until the age 16 when he was captured and sold into slavery Durning the 6 years he spent in slavery before he escaped and went to Gaul he found himself closer to god. There in Gaul he studied in the monsastery for 12 years. It was then he beileved his call was to convert pagans to christianity. St Patrick spent 30 years converting the Irish pagans,building schools and churches. St Patrick died March 17th 461 AD. The St. Patrick Day custom was celebrated in America in 1737 in Boston.
The Shamrock
The shamrock being the symbol of St. Patricks came from the old Irish tale that tells how St. Patrick used the 3 leafed clover to represnt trinity. He used it his sermons to explian how the Father,The Son and the Holy Spirit all excist as sperate elements of the same entity.
Blarney Stone
The Blarney Stone is a stone set in the wall of the Blarney Castle tower. The castle was built in 1446. Kissing the stone is supposed to bring the kisser the gift of persuasive eloquence. (Blarney)
