XTERMINAL
Named
for a dead technology, XTERMINAL seeks to explore those parts
of the human psyche that have disappeared from the public examination and view.
The stated aim of the band is to confront, to enlist, and to guide the listener
who chooses to make the journey.
Until
I can figure out how to add links on the fly to frames pages, if you’re here
about more information for The Holy Door, click here. I promise, I’m trying to get a link to it
up top. Really. I mean it.

NEWS…
(20 July 2000): Due to the present stupidity occurring at Speak in
Tongues, a number of changes are being made to the schedule of events between
now and the end of the year…
· barring a
miracle, the proposed Luftkanone/Hellcattle/XTerminal performance and resulting
CD-R release are cancelled. There is hope for an XTerminal/Luftkanone
collaboration on July 23rd, we shall see.
· Information
on the future status of Speak in Tongues and its policies should be forthcoming
this weekend. After that, I’ll know about the status of the record release show
for The Holy Door, or I’ll be looking for an alternative venue within a
100 mile radius of Cleveland.
· An Eternity
of Suffering has been delayed. How long, I cannot say, but unless a miracle
occurs within the next two days, I won’t be able to record the last few tracks
at the show on the 23rd. In that case, I’ll grab some other stuff
and the track list will change.
NEWS!
(07 July 2000): It’s been an ugly few weeks. First, both the June 22
and July 1 shows were disasters. Then we were notified that Speak in Tongues
refuses to allow more than seven bands to play on July 22. Other alternatives
are currently being considered.
Various
things are happening at Goat Central. The most notable of them is the impending
release of another CD-R demo. Originally limited to 10 but now growing in
scope, An Eternity of Suffering will feature a number of compilation
submissions and a live set recorded at Goat Central. It should be out in the
next few days.
Flyers
for upcoming shows are now linked off the live page, and archived flyers will
be up as soon as I get around to it.
NEWS!
(21 June 2000): God help me, I’ve been keeping the home fires
burning almost constantly for over a month now, and believe it or not… I’m
ahead of schedule on almost everything. In the past two weeks, the Anthology
of Noise comp was released by Fusion Audio (and it kicks MAJOR ass—go get yourself one, because only 75 were made and
with bands like Converter and Noumena on there, it’s gonna go FAST), the Look, Ma,
No Samples! disc came out on mp3.com (and they allowed the liner
notes… I’m amazed), the “Ebola in the Water Supply” CD-r single was packaged up
and mailed out as a submission to The Terrorist Project (and a different
version of that storied one-copy single—I don’t even have one myself in the
original version—will appear on mp3.com as soon as I find out what Michael
wants to use and whether he wants to keep it exclusive), I’ve signed on to do
at least one more comp appearance, I’m hoping to get opening spots on two dates
on the Taint/Goat tour in July, and I’ve gotten back thirty minutes plus of
submitted material already for The Holy Door.
The
track list for Look, Ma:
· Stalker
· Trevor Horn
is My Mother’s Addiction
· Liquid heroin (sensormix)
· Theory of
Exodus
· Martian Drone
· Pretty Dress
(calm distortion mix)
· Pomophobia

XTERMINAL's
influences, while being as diverse as possible given that there is only one
member of the band, center in the realm of the disturbing, the painful, and the
extremes of experiment. While listing all of the band's major influences is a
task beyond the capabilities of these fingers, the curious listener would be
best served by examining the music and art of the following, which have had a
direct influence:
QUELL
MERZBOW
EUGENE
THACKER
DISSECTING
TABLE
SEASON
OF DISCONTENT/CONTAMINATION DIET
GOAT
HARRY
OLDFIELD
