NEWS! (11 June 2000): I’m pretty sure you’ll agree this is a major piece o’ news… ILLUSION OF SAFETY has been added to the lineup of the June 22nd show. Very cool. NOW will you show up?

NEWS! (1 June 2000): Well, I’m not much for “official announcements,” since things tend to start going wrong as soon as you announce them, but oh well. Plans for the rest of the year are solidifying. They include anywhere from four to ten shows, nine CD/CD-R/single releases, and possibly more (still working on a few things). Six of the shows are listed on the live page, including one that doesn’t look like it’s actually going to happen (the Sikhara show… well, it’ll happen, just not with me). Another is the Club mp3.com tour, which I’m still hoping for an opening spot on, but hope fades daily.

The CD releases are as follows.

·       12 June 2000: Digital Intersect Media releases An Anthology of Noise, upon which I have three tracks. It’s ten bucks postpaid for two CDs! Go get it!

·       29 July 2000: I’m self-releasing the next demo, Live: In the Neon Glow of the Chevy Plant. This will be an edition of 50, once again free and going mostly to radio stations, labels, magazines, etc., plus those people who were promised a copy of the first demo before I ran out. Live will be a black CD-R in a clamshell case, once again signed and hand-numbered. I’m keeping one for myself, of course, and I’ve set aside two to auction on ebay; this will be a substantially larger investment than the last one was, and I’d like to recoup a little of that. The present tentative songlist:

n     Stalker (clear)

n     Pretty Dress (full-on torture)

n     Theory of Exodus (ringo didn’t do it)

n     Gary Glitter Goes to Jail

n     Mystery song no one knows about yet 1

n     Mystery song no one knows about yet 2

n     Hollow (cover of the Integrity song)

n     Lamb of God 151

n     Chinese Water Torture (a remix of Sleeping Prophet’s “Cold Water in the Mind”)

n     Christ

n     Pomophobia

·       29 July 2000: a split CD-R single with Hellcattle will be released (through me—I really have to come up with a label name). I doubt it will be limited edition so much as pressed on demand. There will be two tracks, both recorded live, and they may appear on a possible full-length split CD-R later down the road.

·       August 2000: an album of spoken word material, probably with a really inspired title like Twenty-Five Poems, will be released through mp3.com. I have yet to decide if this will be under the XTerminal moniker or whether I’ll just use my own name.

·       August 2000: a noise album will be released through mp3.com, tentatively entitled Look, Ma, No Samples! And will contain various remixes and things that will then go away, probably for good (once the live versions of some of the songs at mp3.com get uploaded, it’s likely the studio versions will go away, only to resurface on the CD).

·       September 2000: finally, the long-awaited release of James’ Roadtrip. Three more stops are planned for the deformed little guy: Liberia, Asagaya, and San Francisco (the samples provided by Village Djembe Drumming, Merzbow, and Radiosonde respectively). As with the three existing pieces of the album, the styles will be widely different. I’m thinking right now that “Liberia” will be full-on wall-of-noise, “Asagaya” will be industrial noise-metal, and “San Francisco” will be a drone/ambient track along the lines of Radiosonde’s “u”.

·       November 2000: It doesn’t have a title yet, but the phobias-cycle disc is starting to take shape. “Pomophobia” is up on mp3.com. Coulrophobia has been recorded. Samples are still being gathered for “Caligynephobia,” but it is close to completion. “Belonephobia” has passed the conceptual stages. There will be one or two more, but the project should be ready by then.

·       31 December 2000: well, the way I envision it… at exactly 11:59PM, the world will see the relase of The Holy Door at Speak in Tongues. I still have to talk to Ralph about booking the show, but I’d like to get at least half the contributing artists there to perform live, and unveil XTerminal’s “Porta Sancta” that night, as well. Details will follow as I have more information. As of right now, the contributors involved are Luftkanone (track submitted), Hellcattle (track submitted), D. M. Sullivan (track completed, but we’re still trying to find a way to get it from him to me), and myself. If you’d like to contribute to the project, email me. I’ll get a page up about it ASAP.

NEWS! (30 May 2000): Looks like the Acess Denied errors are gone. Yes, I know I’ve said that before, but…

The last few changes for the July 22nd show have been made. QUELL has finally consented to play the show, and KNURL also confirmed. A thirteen-band lineup… including the unveiling for the first (and possibly last) time of a new version of XTERMINAL (details forthcoming). We’re planning on getting this one started as early as possible, and may try to make an all-day affair out of it. So bring a hibachi and the ribs, we’ll make a BBQ out of this thing!

NEWS! (23 May 2000): Well, I was hoping the access denied errors were gone. No such luck. Keep hitting “no” and I’ll keep yelling at ILE (it seems to be some kind of javascript error, as far as I can tell).

We finally have the confirmed lineups for the shows on June 22nd and July 22nd. Updates are available on the live page. Also, there’s a possibility that another seriously world-famous band is being added to one of the summer concerts… more after this is confirmed.

NEWS! (18 May 2000): As you can see, I finally got off my ass and updated this page, put in the frames, and also (Shameless Media Whore™ that I am) joined the Internet Link Exchange after hearing great things about it from Patrick Simonds of The Sleeping Prophet. Hopefully this will crank up the number of page hits both here and at mp3.com. A list of changes to the site can be found here; I figured I’d put them on their own page, because there are a lot. PLEASE READ THIS! There are a few links here that do different things than they used to, and I don’t want you to get lost.

Also, there’s now a brand new announcement mailing list to keep you updated about web page changes, etc. Hey, you’re here… sign up!

(16 May 2000) I wouldn’t call this “news,” I just wanted to give credit where credit is due… thanks to Thomas Clary for the inspiration for the new redirector page.

NEWS! (11 May 2000): A number of new tracks have been sent to mp3.com and approved, including studio versions of “Stalker” and “Pretty Dress,” the first two XTerminal tracks with actual vocals. All this is pointing towards the second demo (as yet untitled) and a DAM CD release from mp3.com (tentatively titled Look Ma, No Samples! Thanks to mp3.com’s extremely restrictive sample policy). I’m hoping that the second demo will be ready for prime time by the end of June, and will contain material recorded live at the next two shows.

The word is on the street… the shows which I couldn’t previously discuss are now out in the open, thanks to the genesis of the Speak in Tongues. The July 22nd show at Speak in Tongues will be headlined by ROSEMARY MALIGN AND THE EUGENICS COUNCIL. Another show I’ll be very proud to share a stage with. The June 22nd show will be headlined by NOISEGATE.

NEWS! (23 April 2000): As you can tell if you’ve been here before, this time I updated the whole web page as we head on our way to a whole new look (which will eventually include frames). A LOT of stuff has been added, especially to the live page, and a lot of stuff has been updated, as well, from this page all the way to the back.

NEWS! (13 April 2000): Due to a tragedy last Friday, Satan’s Robot will no longer be playing the April 15th show. The second demo won’t be ready yet, because I’ll probably be recording the stuff at the show to include on it. James’ Roadtrip continues apace for mp3.com. Also, the new sound card’s not here yet, so barring its arrival between now and tomorrow night (Saturday will be spent at the track, so I won’t have time to play with it), “Stalker” will be reserved for the April 29th show. An instrumental version of “Stalker” called “The Soup Murders” will show up in its place.

NEWS! (18 March 2000): Took me a couple of weeks, but I finally got If No One Hates It, Then It's Not Worth Listening To burned and out the door. All in all, considering I hand-made the covers, it ended up looking pretty good for something done on a low-end HP inkjet printer. Twenty copies and two test pressings were run. All the numbered copies and one of the test pressings are spoken for, and the other test press will be auctioned off on ebay to see if I can recoup some of the investment I put into these. The final track list:

Some of the songs above can be heard at mp3.com, and all of them will be released on other discs sooner or later (I hope).

Take me back to the main page, bonehead!
