Wong Jim, James Wong, Speech at Leslie Cheung's Funeral
"If someone asked me, -through the history and generations of the Chinese World- who the prince and heir  would be, I would say, Leslie was that person."

James Wong, in his funeral speech
At the Funeral: Three Short Portraits. James Wong, Anita Mui and Tong Tong

Wong then went onto recalled how at one of Leslie's tours, Leslie gave each of the 100-odd staff a branded gift. What was impressive was not the present but Leslie handwrote and signed every one,
and remembering each and every staff's name.

As Leslie was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on.

"Leslie was good looking, talented, and treated people well too. He worked hard and never put on airs. He is like a precious present from the God."

At the most emotional moment, Wong choking back tears asked, While God had given us such a precious present as Leslie. Why then, at the moment when he is so glamorous, must God retrieve his present? Is it to teach us that there can never be anything perfect in this world? So when there is someone like that, we have to treasure him or her while we can because God will take back his present anytime. When he said that, even friends like Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Tony Leung Ka Fai, and other who do not usually shed tears in public finally broke down and cried.

Dr. James Wong Jim Passed Away November 2004
Her eyes were puffy and red and her gaze was dazed. She was so weak that her friends had to help her move around. On the 7th April, when Anita saw Leslie's coffin, she cried at him, "Why?! Why are you like that?!" Later, when some of her friends wanted to leave, she said that she wanted keep Leslie company a little longer. However throughout the time she was there, she did not have the courage to look at Leslie's picture. At one stage, she tried to look. But when her vision came into contact with just Leslie's hair, she could not control herself and started wailing again. Upon seeing this, her friends supported her out into her vehicle.

On the 8th, at the hotel reception, Anita was still very deeply affected. Her tears kept falling even as she ate. At one stage, in the middle of eating, she simply cried out loud, and her friends again took her home.
Anita Mui

Anita Mui, so deeply affected, she had been crying and praying for him at home non stop. On both 7th and 8th, to avoid the media she arrived and left the funeral parlour through
the back entrance. And on both days, Anita broke down several times -crying very
loudly.
Tong Tong
After the reception in the hotel,
Tong and Kenneth (Leslie's assistant) carried Leslie's portrait back to their home. Tong had insisted he wanted the portrait to be placed there. When they reached the house, throngs of media were waiting. The situation was chaotic as they stepped out. People jostled to interview and take photos. While Tong hugged Leslie's portrait even more tightly to himself, out of fear that the media would knock the portrait onto the floor. Evident was how important Leslie meant to him. Fortunately, Kenneth was there to help him ward off the media so he could finally place Leslie home safely.
