Each Amateur Radio station has its own distinctive callsign so ...

YB2SV is my ham radio station callsign, and its consist of two major elements, the preffix (YB2) and the suffix (SV).

YB2 tells to where in the world this preffix is assigned to .... YB is for Indonesia and figure 2 is for which part of Indonesia, this ham operator lives, in this case is in Central part of the Island of Java, while SV is the "number" given to the licence holder.

So, YB2SV is me, hi hi ! I am Jos and my callsign is YB2SV, this mean that I am a licenced ham operator, living in Central Java Island, Indonesia.

Quite complicated ? No, I hope not.

Ham operators are so proud of their callsigns that the two often become inseparable in the minds of friends.
