Do Not File Under "Manefesto". 16 Pages. Mini-size. .5 oz. 25 cents. By Jessika Rae-Detroit, MI.
Another oh-so-cute zine from Ms. Disaster. In her own words, she says "It's about traveling, being a kid, heartbreak and things that inspire me. Most of this is taken from my journal, or letters I've written." And thats just what it is. Greyhound stories, missing people, reclaiming being a kid, and lots more. Short and sweet, just as travel zines should be!
Distortia. (w/mini CD spoken word/noise project) Issue 1. 64 Pages. 3.5 oz. $3.00. Niatni-Olympia, Wa.
This zine/mini CD is pretty incredible. Once I recieved it in the mail to be considered for distro, I was completley blown away. The mini disc included inside is nothing short of amazing. The way Niatni users her voice is so empowering and inspiring. Using her words in this project really adds to the overall aesthetic of the packaging of the zine. The zine is done in a black & white cut n' paste style, most of what is included are the words to her mini disc project. The focus is all very political. Native American rights, Biological Warfare, Rape, Feminism, Sep.11th, and so much more. You need this.
Do Not File Under Manifesto. 16 Pages. Half Size. 1 oz. $1.00. Jessika-Detroit, MI.
"Detroit Winters & Dirty Hands." "I've written countless manifestos & calls to action & communiques.  Typewriter keys clicking late at night. Words crossed out & revised. I know I'm alive to inspire people & create change. I believe with all my heart that art is revolutionary." What more can I say? Jessika is an amazing girl & this issue of her zine represents her so well. Living in the city, goodbyes, cute drawings, the past & future, and lots more.
Don't Fall Asleep. Issue 2. 32 Pages. Quarter Size. 1 oz. $1.00. Christina-Charlottetown, PEI-Canada.
"I love you the same as I love rediscovering old forgotten words in my beat-up thesaurus" is how this zine starts. Another document of Christinas life...missing her typewriter, heartbreak, missed chances, Canada being her home, a soundtrack, adapting and understanding non-monogamous relationships--also exploring self confidence and why it is important to have in a NM relationship, a list of random fun facts about Christina, confronting sexist remarks, why language is important, recipe for vegan pancakes, and more. Christina never fails to create something exciting and fun to read.
