THE HISTORY OF THE HOLDEN MONARO

This page is under construction
HK
The HK was introduced in 1968.
Three 2 door hardtop models were available: Monaro, Monaro GTS and Monaro GTS 327.
HT
The HT was introduced in mid 1969.
Two 2 door hardtop models were available: Monaro and Monaro GTS.
HG
The HG was introduced in mid 1970.
Three 2 door hardtop models were available: Monaro, Monaro GTS and Monaro GTS 350.
HQ
The HQ was introduced in mid 1971.
Three 2 door hardtop models were available: Monaro, Monaro LS and Monaro GTS.
In early 1973, a Monaro GTS 4 door sedan was introduced.
HJ
The HJ was introduced in 1974.
Three 2 door hardtop models were available: Monaro, Monaro LS and ??? 2 door hardtop.
A Monaro GTS 4door sedan was also available.
HX
The HX was introduced in mid 1976.
Generally, just one model was available: Monaro GTS 4 door sedan.
Available in limited numbers (600), though, was the LE 2 door hardtop.
This being the last of the Monaro hardtops, although it didn't
bear the name Monaro, as it was simply known as Holden LE.
Interestingly, the Holden LE doesn't even have an external "Holden" badge.
The HX was the last Holden to bear the "Monaro" name, until it was revived in late 2001.
HZ
The HZ was introduced late 1977, although the name "Monaro" was NOT attached to this model, as it was named simply.... Holden GTS. But, I've included it in this historical account as many believe the HZ was still a Monaro, despite the fact that GMH dropped the Monaro tag for this model.
Models available were: GTS 4 door sedan.
