with custom Skidplate in '89 Jeep"
aka 3/4tonYJ
back to page 1 "Build-Up" page
this page and my jeep are currently under major construction
January 1st, 2001
Left: i'm ready to start
installation with help from
Sally (my Black Lab.) we
will be doing most the work
in my shed, but it's just to
cold to start today.
Right: a before picture
of 3/4tonYJ in the sun
Below: the completed
NP203/Dana 20 (5 to 1 low)
along with the TH350 adaptor
ready  for installlation.
Ya, that snow
I installed a fill plug and I call  it an
"Oil Transfer-Tube"  in the NP203's
PTO cover. i decided not to run a
seal between the 2 cases, so they
will be able to share fluids. now the
Bronco Dana 20 want 80/90w gear
oil & the NP203 wants 10w30  or 40
engine oil. I'm planning on running
synthetic 80/90w gear oil in both.

here's a closer picture of
the sally the Black Lab and
the oil"Transfer Tube"
Left:
the first picture of
the cases being
installed.
i just muscled it up,
thats the last time
i'm going to have
to get a jack, it is
just to heavy.

this poor picture
shows how long my
new rear driveshaft
is going to be,
17&1/2"
i made this crossmember/transmission/transfercase mount out of 3/4" x 2" bar stock. i made
is like this to get the most ground clearance i can, my new t-cases sure hang lower than the
NP231.   so the crossmember is just C-clamped up in the 2 below pictures, i did start it and
back it out of the shed under it's own power, It's ALIVE, (both T-case were is high)

below is a picture with the dualcases installed, it's hanging kind of low.
about 1 & 1/2 inched lower that the stock skid plate. future plans are
to raise the entire drivetrain in the jeep about 2", but i'm running it like
this for now, make sure it passes the test of time first.
