Homeward bound. No swollen glands, and sinuses mostly cleared up. As usual, breakfast at 7. I got a plate of pastries and pineapple for Nancy so she could have one last Costa Rican breakfast. We checked out, and I left my postcards with the front desk with assurances that they would arrive (I had forgotten to get stamps and it was too early to get them). No post cards. :( Back on the bus and on the road to the airport at 8:30. Checkin was a little confusing as they had several lines and nobody really knew where they were supposed to go. One line was actually random check, and the "airport guy" would round up people to go to the random check, see it was too busy, round them up back into just the checkin line, then round up more to get back into the random check line. I'm not quite sure how it worked, but I just did what he told me, which was get random checked. The guy getting checked in front of Chris had his wife's aerosol hair spray removed from their baggage. My random check went pretty smoothly, and I moved to the checkin line, which was really slow for some reason. I never understand what takes some people so long, because I'm usually in and out of there in two minutes. This trip I got a window seat! There was more confusion in the checkin line as some people got antsy and switched lines, only to have the checkin person leave and not come back! I got my customs form, filled it out, went through, found my group, and did a little tshirt perusing, and found another tshirt I just had to have. We waited for boarding, which was at least 30 minutes late (still on island time), and we were on the plane and moving by 11. I sat next to Keri and Warren, and Deb and Ken were right behind us. Keri wrote her trip report in a journal, and did it within 3 hours. I have been typing this all day (day 'nine'), for at least 8 hours. I must agree with her final thoughts, though. This was a great trip with a lot of great people, and just what I needed. It had been a mostly crappy year thus far.
We arrived at DFW 3:30 pm, and I got a little TLC some Deb. Off the plane, and we got our baggage,
went through immigration and customs, and then said goodbye to Chris. The rest of us got on the Hyatt shuttle to pick up our
cars, and there the rest of us said our goodbyes. I figured out at some point that my dive skin was missing...Grrrrr. I
came straight home, with one stop for gas in Temple and a stop at the grocery store. The puppies were glad to see me, and we
went to bed pretty early.
