yoga tour of India, the spiritual home of yoga...
We will meet in Kolkata, West Bengal on the evening of the 27th December for a flight/transfer up to Darjeeling, a charming hillstation with an outlook over Mt Everest on the 28th. During the six days we spend in the Hmalayan region there will be daily yoga, mano yoga and meditation practices in the mornings and early evenings with the days free for exploring and adventure. Among other things we will visit Buddhist monasteries, Lake Khecheopalri, Rabdentse Ruins (the ancient capital of Sikkim), a mountain orphange, a tea plantation, colourful bazaars, see the sunrise over Mt Khanchenzonga on new year's day, and more...
We will venture down from the mountains for a flight to Hyderabad where will stay at the peaceful Somanatha Kshetram located on the highest hilltop in the city. Here we will receive intensive lessons in mano yoga, turiya yoga and and yoga philosophy directly from enlightened yoga master Sri Somanatha Maharshi. Being in the presence of an enlightened master is an experience in itself, and here you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in yogic life!
After departing Hyderabad we fly to Chennai where stay in a comfortable Kerala style resort close to the Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda Centre where will receive six full days of yoga tuition from the world-famous A.G. Mohan and his family. They will share with us their immense knowledge of yoga and ayurveda as taught to them by yoga master T. Krishnamacharya.
After the yoga program in Chennai, we will go south to Mahabalipuram, a village famous for its ancient carved temples, where we stay at an Ayurvedic Resort on the beach. Here we will have some lessons in ayurveda, and the opportunity to experience a range of ayurvedic therapies including massage and detoxification programs. There will be plenty of time for visiting the carved stone temples this town is famous for, or just relaxing by the pool.
You are welcome to stay on in Mahabalipuram for further Ayurvedic treatments or transfer back to Chennai for your flight home. The tour is fully escorted in India by yoga teacher, Mandy BeckerKnox from Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre in Perth, Western Australia. There is nothing like a trip to this amazing country which is at the very heart of yoga to awaken the spirit of yoga within!
