What's New... |
To say that I am honored and blessed by the new opportunities to teach and share Yoga seems oxymoronic, a statement of dichotomy. Yoga, teaching and pracitcing is an honor and a blessing: stretching up and down, lengthening and strengthening, moving in and out and focusing consciousness through breath and awareness is joy embodied. Having said that, I want to share where we've been playing and expanding. Yoga in English for Italian Elementary School kids has just begun. In our first encounter we learned Yoga is from India , Jane is from the United States and we're in Italy. Allora, Yo - Ga , hands clap together became a chant. Yo - The USA, Ga - India, CLAP - Here now. Then after listing all the animals they knew we went down to the gym . They created a new 'vinyasana.' you might want to try. Stand still : I'm a mountain. Arms up: The sun is rising. Good morning , sun. Forward fold: Hello earth. How are you? (ooH cold floor) Jump Back: I'm a dog. I'm walking my dog. (bend one knee press heel down then the other) Knees to down: I'm a cat, stretching in the warm morning sun. Feels good! I like to stretch. Dog: The dog follows the cat to a stream. Jump to Squat ( Took a little liberty here, looks like a frog.) What can a frog do? Jump. Jump to dog. Jump to frog. Sit: Butterfly. I'm a butterfly. Forward fold: (Hands form a flower, elbows on floor.) I'm a butterfly. I'm sitting on a flower. (Then reverse the whole sequence!) There's more news but it won't fit on one page. GO ON |
