MY STORY

Personal:

Hello, my name is Dan Polak, and I now live in Oklahoma. I was born in 1956 (do the math!), and have one son (on his own, recently back from Iraq), a beautiful puppy named Lady (which weighs 40#),and another puppy named Jasmine (Jazz for short) and even a THIRD puppy (black lab) named Puma. I , myself, am 6' tall, and weigh between 170# and 175#, (depending on the week), and am the grocery manager at a local Wal-Mart Supercenter. I am a self-taught computer user, with more than a general knowledge of DOS 6.2, Windows 3.1 , Win95, Win98, Win2K, and now XP. I am also a self-taught typist, with a speed so far of approx. 78 WPM. I love to fish, golf, and spend time at home. I've been an internet user since about 1994, and know my way around pretty well... newsgroups, www, emails, chats, etc etc. That is, I know both the good and the BAD that is getting so much more prevalent online. Never afraid to try something new software-wise, it has caused more than one HDD crash! But... boys will be boys, right? Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Education:

I went to a small town school in Waterloo, Nebraska (pop.412), which housed kindergarten through 12th grade in one building. The average size of the classes when I was in High School, was only 20 to 25 students. Being a bit of a hell-raiser while growing up (I'm much better now), I quit my senior year to take a job as a union bricklayer, making the phenomenal wage of almost 8$ per hour, as a 17 year old kid, in 1973. Quickly realizing that my back and mind weren't gonna be able to take that job for the next 50 years, I began to make other plans. However, I did not feel it necessary to get that piece of paper, that said I had a high school diploma. Finally, in the year 1995, at the age of 39, I did decide that I would go take the GED test. With no prior preparation I took the test, and averaged 62.2 pts. of a possible 65, on all the subjects, or 311 pts. of 325 in the five categories. I just wonder why I waited so long to do it.? All in all, it is just a piece of paper, but... it tells me that I know what I thought I knew, and I knew that I did...well, I thought I did, till the test let me know that what I thought was what I knew. (did ya follow all that? hehehehe)

Hobbies:

I have many varied hobbies, again all self learned, such as ,
