HOW TO PUT MORE FISH IN YOUR COOLER

I like to fish for 3 reasons. (1) I like the peacefulness of being out on the water. Nothing beats getting away from the demands of everyday life and just relaxing while out in the boat. (2) I enjoy spending time with my favorite fishing partner and my special blessing from God, my wife. We enjoy each other’s companionship and company. (3) Both of us love to eat seafood! Because of reason number three, I use every advantage available to me to put fish in my cooler. I subscribe to a weekly, regional fishing magazine that tells where the fish were biting last week, I have a good electronic fish finder, I have a hand-held GPS to locate favorite fishing spots, and most importantly, I believe what God said in Word about those who serve Him. Below I have listed some of the specific scriptures that my wife and I “stand on” when we go after fish. We remind ourselves of the scriptures and remind God that we are believing for Him to bless us as we fish.

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Gen 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Ps 8:4-9 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? {5} You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. {6} You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: {7} all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, {8} the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. {9} O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Deut 15:10 Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.
We believe that God will honor His Word and bless us as we put our hands to catching fish.

Ps 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
The desires of our hearts is to catch fish when we are fishing!

Luke 5:3-7 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. {4} When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." {5} Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." {6} When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. {7} So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

Rom 2:11 For God does not show favoritism.
Since God does not show favoritism, we believe that He will bless us with an abundant catch of fish just like He did for Simon Peter.

Here are some fish pictures where we applied these scriptures and the results.
