In 1996, at the beginning of the season Beckham was starting the game on the right midfield. The game was against Wimbledon and it ended up to be a thrashing.  During the match Beckham was dribbling along the right side but then stopped, looked up and took a shot which surprised the goalkeeper. He scored from about 55 yards away. People say this is the best goal that has ever been scored! He did not though, win the goal of the season. Matt le Tissier did and was a bit embarrassed because he thought that Beckham deserved to win for his outstanding goal.
