Washington State Honda Sport Touring Association |
Washington State HSTA is a non-specific SPORT Touring club despite having Honda in the name. We promote responsible motorcycling. Goldwings and cruisers are not excluded HOWEVER, due to the characteristics and limitations of these types of bikes, cornering speeds should be substantially reduced on club rides.
Responsible riding to us means: wearing all the protective safety gear you can get your hands on, keeping your bike in good running order, courteously overtaking other vehicles when needed (waving with ALL your fingers), and riding at reasonable speeds. Reasonable should allow for control of the motorcycle based on other traffic, weather and road conditions, and the rider's own ability. Occasionally our pace may seem brisk, but make no mistake about it, RACING is for the TRACK.
We are a small group that gets together to explore some of the twistier roads around the state (and some out-of-state) to get away from the hustle and bustle of big-city life. We stay off the major highways as much as possible (to avoid traffic and enforcement) and usually keep our mileage around 300-400 miles a day, providing for some intake of scenery. There are always exceptions.
We further demonstrate the positive aspects of motorcycling by discouraging the use of ANY alcohol while riding. What happens at the end of a long hot day is a another story.
Meetings occur the 2nd Saturday of every month (at minimum), including the winter months. Winter activities include go-cart racing, skiing, or some other adrenaline-based activity. Meeting locations vary, but the ride SCHEDULE is always the best source for the most up-to-date information you need.
Rides are what it's all about. Come on-time and ready to ride. This means your gas tank should be full, chain should be lubed and adjusted, and you should be dressed appropriately for the weather as it occasionally rains here in Seattle. The departure times are stated so that you can skip breakfast if you choose, but we will leave at any time after the stated ride time. If you are even 1 minute late, you may find yourself playing catch-up, possibly with less-than-optimal results.
Join the HSTA by filling out and mailing the APPLICATION. It's that simple. See more details at the National HSTA Website, above.
