FAQS
What do I get from your standard service?

I will trace your family’s pedigree, usually back to 1800 and sometimes beyond, then supply you with a Pedigree Chart and ancestral Book. This can be supplied on Floppy if required. In my most recent search for a client using my standard fee, I was able to trace their family back to 1495! This was unusual though in lots of cases getting back to the 1600/1700’s is not. I can provide an estimate of costs involved from your information plus an estimation of how successful I think my research will be.My standard fee is $300.

What information do you need?

For my standard fee, I need the name and a general geographic area for your ancestor circa 1900. However, I can still research your ancestors without this information. I would still need a name/place though. I can start researching from the present date using Birth/Marriage/Death Certificates. The cost of these would be added to my standard fee.

Can I do this research myself?

Certainly, a great number of people are researching their family history on their own. Especially with the abundance of information available through the Internet. Two good sites are the LDS (Latter Day Saints) site which is searchable for no fee and Scots/English Origins which are searchable for a small (NZ $18) fee. The best place to start would be your local FDS Family Centre. Be aware that this can be a very time-consuming and frustrating exercise.

How do I contact Young Ancestors?

Simply click on my E-mail address, youngancestors@yahoo.com or send to my postal address-
654, Gloucester St.
Christchurch 8006
New Zealand

How and when do I pay for your service?

When I have completed your research, I will notify you by E-mail or post including a detail from your family tree and my fee. Then you can send an international cheque/money order to me, if overseas, and I will forward you the full details of my research.

You live in New Zealand, why should I not use a researcher living in the British Isles?

Well, no reason at all and for some specialised research, as in Maritime/Military research, I would advise you to. However, given my wealth of experience in the subject plus my reference library and knowledge of what's available through Internet sources, I feel well qualified to undertake research in this area.

What is your NO FIND-NO FEE policy?

Simply if I carry out research for you but do not find your ancestors, no matter how long the research takes, there will be NO FEE made to you!
