Every Wednesday, Youth Speaks Hawai`i offers teenagers free slam poetry workshops. These meetings are based in the written and spoken word, fusing hip-hop, narrative, poetry, fiction, and theater. The workshops are highly participatory and teach students to become better writers and performers. You do not need to have any slam poetry experience to attend, and you do not need to preregister (newcomers are welcome). The workshops are held at the ARTS @ Marks Garage from 4:30-6:00pm. The address is 1159 Nu`uanu Avenue (@ Pauahi St) in downtown Honolulu. The workshops are sponsored by: -- The Hawai`i People's Fund -- The ARTS at Marks Garage, a key community project of Hawaii Alliance for Arts Education, and partially underwritten by the George P. & Ida T. Castle Trust. |
