THE HEALING QUALITIES OF COLOURS Can colour change your life? Do you find that your choice of colours can influence many aspects of your life such as your mood, health or happiness. Yes, just by a simple choice of colours. Even the clothes that you wear play an important role. Most people will wear red if they feel too tired (as the result of partying the night before?) to go to work on a dreary Monday morning. However if you are prone to bad temperament, wearing rate will further accelerate the effect. David Rainey, Ph.D of John Carroll University in Ohio has found that seeing red can stimulate the glandular system and increase the heart rate, blood pressure and respiration. From my own personal experience, I notice I will be less calm and easily agitated if I wear red for a prolonged period of time. Therefore on a day that you are feeling particularly agitated, for instance after argument with a family member and do not wish to bring the mood to work, use a neutral colour or soft shades of green. One of the best known experiments in the use of colour showed that patients with high blood pressure could simply lower their blood pressure on demand simply by visualizing the colour blue. When their visualize red, the blood pressure rose. The practice of visualizing colours such as lavender, lilac and pastel blue have helped me to cure my insomnia. If there is excess cold energy in your body (the yin energy you get cold, sinus very often), then try to visualize warmer colours such as reds, oranges, yellows and pinks. It works for poor circulation and lethargy as well. The research in America shows that painting your bathroom in warm oranges and reds could actually help to cure constipation (as warm colours increases circulation). On the other hand, if there is excess warm energy in your body (the yang energy you get inflammation and feel heaty very frequently or having a fever), try to visualize soothing blue and green shares and you will almost feel immediately cooled down. Dont believe me? Try it! Colour Breathing Exercise. This exercise can be very healing. You can do it for yourself or direct someone else thru the exercise 1. Lie down and make yourself comfortable. 2. Choose a colour from those below that suits your problem. 3. Visualize the colour as a cloud that you can slowly inhale through the pores of your skin. the coloured cloud comes in your body thru your fingers and toes and then travels thru your body (visualize your bones as hollow so that the colour can seep thru). 4. Then as you exhale, imagine the colour leaving your body, taking with it all the sickness, the toxins, the illness. it all leaves your body and harmlessly vapourizes. 5. Repeat several times. |
