¡@¡@For those who know Mitch Albom, most of them first read his book, <Tuesdays with Morrie>. So did I. <The Five People You Meet in Heaven> was the second book I read by Mitch Albom. Though most of the people know <Tuesdays> better, I like this more. Of course you cannot compare the two because <Tuesdays> is about the real life story of a dying yet brave man, while this is only a story that is imagined by the author. Yet when in terms of inspiration, I do think that I gain more from this.

¡@¡@¡@First, I think that this book needs a change in its name. When compared to <The Five People You Meet in Heaven>, <The Five People Eddie Meets in Heaven> will be much better. You can tell right away from the name of the book what it is all about: it is about you will meet five people in Heaven after you die and each of them will teach you a lesson. However, since each of us will meet five totally different people in Heaven, this book only tells the story of a man named Eddie and the five people he met in Heaven. If we are really going to bump into five people in Heaven, my five people will definitely be different from Eddie's and anyone else's and the lessons I am going to be taught will also be not the same as Eddie's. So this book only gives us some inspiration of life through Eddie's story. Anyways, this books generates a lot of thinkings......
¡@¡@¡@Eddie found his meaning of living only after his death, what a pity. Wish I or you could have found our own purposes of lives much earlier than he did. :) I love this book though my sister said it is only so-so.....I cried when I was reading it and i felt so much that I am a lucky girl because I read Eddie's story and thus I learned from my own life...
¡@¡@¡@Though Eddie finds his meaning of life so late, he was happy after doing so, tbis keeps me thinking...after grandpa died, I'm sure he is going to Heaven, yet will he really bump into five people? Or more? He was in a war too, so would he meet his mates in the army? Would he face some of his enemies again? I don't know. I just know that he is much luckier than Eddie, at least he enjoys his life more and the people he loves, have not left him alone. On the contrary, he left us here.
¡@¡@¡@The things that Mitch wants to teach in this book are something that you have heard for a long time and they are something so old that you would ignore it too easily, so when you read this and really, and i mean really think about it, you learn from it, you at least gain something from one or more of the lessons taught to Eddie. Many of us are just like Eddie, leading a life heading to nowhere and we are stuck in a job that we want to leave behind. Some of us get used to it and continue their lives as usual thinking this is the case for everybody. Some of us tried to find the meaning and failed and back to the lives that they themselves don't even like. So what can we do? We try, and try, and try some more......and we could only hope for the best that until we finally found the purpose of one's life, we don't give up.
¡@¡@¡@I don't just want to talk like a saint, I am also in the middle of a crossroad...so please pray for me that at I could have done and achieved something that I really like in my life. :)
¡@¡@¡@All the best~~ |
