#8: The Three Eyes Of Hiei con.
Information
In the storehouse, Yusuke is levitating, paralyzed by reddish energy bonds tying his body together. Hiei uses telekinesis to lift Yusuke higher yet, then throws him harshly to the ground. Using the same power, Hiei makes the Kouma Sword fly to his hand: "Feel the discrepancy of power level between us. But I admire you. And for my honor I'm going to kill you." Yusuke closes his eyes when Hiei moves to stab the sword through him... but the blade stops before reaching him.
He opens his eyes to see that Kurama has stepped in the way, receiving the strike meant to hit him. The sword has cut right through Kurama's body, causing a horrible wound. But the demon grabs the blade and pulls it even deeper in his belly, catching a good handful of blood gushing from the wound and throwing it on Hiei's Jagan.
With the third eye momentarily blinded, Yusuke's bonds disappear. Kurama explains that the multiple eyes work as amplifiers, but the real power is emitted by the one on Hiei's forehead. Yusuke is concerned about the wound, but Kurama dismisses his worry: "I once belonged to Hiei's world. Death won't take me that easily. I'll take care of the girl. I want you to finish Hiei before he recovers the Jagan's sight."
The Jagan is swollen and half-closed; Hiei is enraged. "Kurama, you traitor! I won't forgive you!" But it's Yusuke who answers the challenge, a thin ki aura forming around his body: "You'll have to face me first." Frightened by Urameshi's power, Hiei attacks and hits the his face. Yusuke tries to hit back, but Hiei dodges, blurring out of the way. For a moment they keep attacking and dodging in a fast hand-to-hand, and none of them gets to hit the other. But at last Hiei manages to punch Yusuke again, and the human boy becomes vulnerable to the subsequent blows. Hiei is still the strongest.
Yusuke is thrown against a wall and falls on the ground. When he stands up, he sees something shining behind Hiei. He runs to the side. Hiei thinks he's trying to escape and runs after him. At some point Yusuke stops, turns and fires the Spirit Gun. Hiei is surprised, but manages to dodge again: "Your aim is horrible.?" Yusuke falls on his knees, exhausted.
All of a sudden, a burst of energy hits Hiei hard in the back. Wondering who attacked him, he turns and sees the Forlorn Hope, now broken, leaning against some boxes. "You calculated the precise angle and hit it, so the mirror would send your blow in my direction," exclaims Hiei, shifting back to his normal aspect. "I don't fight for no reason," smiles Yusuke. "I fight to win." Hiei passes out, muttering against Yusuke's cleverness.
Yusuke gives Keiko the antidote from the Kouma's Sword handle, and the third eye on her forehead closes and vanishes. He thanks Kurama and asks if he's all right. "I'm fine. He didn't hit any vital organs."
Botan asks how Yusuke knew that the mirror would reflect the Spirit Gun, and the Spirit Detective confesses that... he didn't. "He was too fast. I thought that the only way I could get him would be attacking from the rear. Luckily the mirror slipped and fell right there." He also admits that he had no idea of what he would do if the trick hadn't worked.
Kurama giggles. "Here we all thought you to be a brilliant strategist." Yusuke isn't very pleased with the comment since he hasn't a clue to what it means.
The following morning, on the school's roof. Yusuke: "I caught Gouki and Hiei, and recovered all the treasures. Koenma must be glad that everything ended well." Botan tells him that King Enma found out about the robbery after all, since the mirror was broken and the sword was stained with blood. But since the treasures were recovered, Koenma only got a "light" punishment: a hundred spankings on the butt. Yusuke finds that hilarious.
Keiko shows up, sees the two together and goes away, very angry. Yusuke winces; he forgot to give her any explanation. He runs after her yelling, "It's not what you're thinking!", while Botan muses that dealing with Keiko is probably the hardest of Yusuke's problems.
