ZANGZ'S HISTORY OF PAST & PRESENT RPGs & CHARCTERZ |
|
|
|
Here is a compiled list, in chronological order, of some of the games and characters I have played in various RPGs. |
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
The classic granddaddy of all Role Playing Games (RPG). Takes place in a fictional world where the history is inspired by the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth stories as well as many tales of knights in shinning armor.
ZANGOLEN PESCH First level human male ranger
Description: He looked like The Green Arrow, but in more ragged leather rather than bright green spandex. He was more like the Oliver Quinn version of the Green Arrow than the other lame one.
Stats: STR: 15 PERC: 41 INT: 7 CON: 14 WIS: 14 DEX: 13 CHAR: 8 COM: 11
-Chaotic good -Worshiper of Milikki. -Homeland of Neverwinter. -Adventured in Forgotten Realms campaigns in the town of Waterdeep.
Character Current Status: Long since dead. Slaughtered by Orcs, I believe.
Imaginary Current Status: Was served with diced potatoes with sautéed mushrooms and a nice wine at the annual Orc Banquet.
Other Info: This was my first ever RPG character. He was toast during the third gaming session. What can I tell you? I was wet behind the ears with this gaming stuff and we had a killer DM (Dungeon Master).
MULDAR CONSTANTINE Another 1st level human ranger
Description: Not a clue.
STATS: ST: 9 INT: 11 WIS: 7 DEX: 16 CON: 8 PSI: 0
-Adventured in the Forgotten Realms campaigns in the town of Waterdeep.
Current Status: Character retired.
Imaginary Current Status: I think we played two sessions and never got back to that particular game. If the character still exists in "imaginary world". he'd be trying to remember who the hell he was. Kinda like the film "Memento".
Other Info: This must have been a real boring character and game, 'cause I have little recollection about this character. And had I not found the old character sheet, I would have forgotten him completely.
BLOODSTONE Seventh level fighter
Description: If you notice, I rolled a "4" when it came to comeliness. So I came up with an idea that he had a burnt face and wore a metal mask of a skull and a dark cloak to hide his burn scars. Thus came a "Dark Avenger of Waterdeep" type theme. I was really into the Batman comics at the time.
Stats: STR: 14 INT: 14 WIS: 9 DEX: 14 CON: 16 CHAR: 16 COM: 4 PERC: 51 THACO: 18
-Age of 19. -Homeland was the land of Barovia, in the realm of Ravenloft. -Lawful good. -Adventured in the Forgotten Realms in the town of Waterdeep.
Character Current Status: Character was retired after that gaming group ended.
Imaginary Current Status: If that character still exists in "imaginary world" he'd be a vigilante, dark avenger in Waterdeep.
Other Info: This was my ALL TIME FAVORITE D&D character ever!! I played him for quite a while with great relish!! He originally came from Barovia in the realm of Ravenloft (the horror version of D&D) and was somehow transported to Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms. A very dark and brooding character. ZYZACK MUDAR Fifth level human thief
Description: Your average thief. Tattered cloak, many pockets and scruffy looking.
Stats: STR: 14 INT: 17 WIS: 7 DEX: 17 CON: 16 CHAR: 15 COM: 15 PERC: 59
-Lawful Neutral -Birthday...Feb. 12th, 1350 -Adventured in the Forgotten Realms in the town of Waterdeep.
Character Current Status: Character is retired.
Imaginary Current Status: He's probably doing time in the pokey and has a cell mate three times his size named Fisty LaRue....Ouch!
Other Info: I think he was a hanger on for Bloodstone. Kinda like Batman's Robin.
ODEON HAMMERSTONE 3rd Level Dwarven Fighter
Description: A salty, grumpy, curmudgeonous, wisenheimer, hedonistic dwarf who’s ready to go out and kick ass all in the name of fortune and glory. Has a heavy accent that could be either Scottish or Irish. Has the traditional long hair, long beard and mustache.
Stats: STR: 17, DEX: 15, CON: 16, INT: 14, WIS: 13, CHA 10
- Chaotic Good - Deity of Moradin - Has a great axe given to him by his father shortly before his father’s demise in battle. It is named “The Screaming Whore” (See Star Wars RPG also).
Character Current / Imaginary Status: Waiting to get started and see some action fer crissakes! Ummm…Trish?
Other Info: This is the BEST rolling up of a character that I’ve ever done. Unfortunately, that’s all we’ve done with the characters in this game. We’ve rolled ‘em up and are now ready to play. However, the game master is really busy lately (boyfriend, work, still learning the game, boyfriend). Everybody’s really excited to play their characters. Some of us have gotten miniatures! Hopefully we’ll see some action soon……Trish? |

A gothic horror game where you play a vampire in modern day and have to deal with the pain, power and politics of being the undead.
TATE CONSTINTINE 13th generation vampire of the Camerilla
Clan: Ventrue (rich snobs) Nature: curmudgeon Demeanor: architect Concept: dilettante
Description: If you comic book-fan boys haven't figured it out, he's a direct rip off of "John Constintine: Hellblazer" except that he had a well coifed goatee. He was a successful author on ghosts, vampires and other "mythical" monsters.
Character Current Status: Got toasted by a "team mate" who was a Malkavian vampire who thought he was Elvis and decided to "defend" the both of us by using a flame thrower in a very small hotel room. Smooth move, Elvis.
Other Info: Pretty much said it all above.
TOMMY REDWOLF 13th generation vampire of the Sabbatt
Clan: Gangrel (animal-like) Nature: Bon viviant Deameaner: curmudgeon Concept: never decided...
Description: American Indian (Lakota) who had long, black hair, tattered black leather jacket, torn jeans and cowboy boots. He also had a tattoo of thorns around his right arm.
Character's Current Status: Character was retired after game ended.
Imaginary Current Status: Lurking right behind you as you read this. Made ya look, sucka!!
Other Info: 'Nuff said.
JEREMY OSWALD (The Scales Of Justice) 13th generation vampire of the Camerilla
Clan: Malkavian (insane vampires) Nature: Bavo Demeanor: Fanatic Concept: Kinda gave up on that concept thing after a few characters.
Description: Are you ready for this? Since he was part of a clan of vampires that suffered from madness, Jeremy Oswald took on the persona of a costumed vigilante and called himself, "The Scales of Justice". He wore a beach towel as a cape, a hockey mask, galoshes as boots...you get the idea.
Character's Current Status: Another retired character.
Imaginary Current Status: Has found his soul mate in Captain Liberty from the TV show, "The Tick". The both of them are living together in a condo and plan to marry sometime this spring. God help us if they procreate!!! God help us all!!
Other Info: The "Scales of Justice" was a hilarious character to play which everyone enjoyed...except Kirk, whose character...a dominatrix vampire... wanted to chase down and drain him dry.
ERNST STAVRO BLOFELD 13th level vampire of the Sabbatt
Clan: Ventrue Nature: Fanatic Demeaner: Director Concept: Megalomaniac
Description: Looks like the Charles Grey version of the character from the Bond film, "Diamonds are Forever".
Character Status: Was dropped by GM (Mario) for being a way-too-powerful of a character for his NPCs to deal with. He was a god, basically.
Imaginary Current Status: He is currently building a stainless steel secret lair in a volcano to use against Mario when he least expects it. Look out Mar, that is one vengeful, megalomaniacal vampire.
Other Info: Yep. I actually tried to get away with bringing a Bond villain into Vampire: The Masquerade. What was I thinking? What was I drinking?
MAL FADOR 10th level vampire of the Sabbatt
Clan: Brujah (mean and nasty vampires) Nature: Impish Demeanor: Wise ass Concept: Punker
Description: He was a Punk Rocker with all the Punk Rock amenities... Black leather jacket, combat boots, Anarchy pins, Danzig patches and half his head shaved with the other half long and black.
Character's Status: Retired.
Imaginary Status: Probably mourning Wendy O'Williams and Joey Romone... while sucking people dry of their blood.
Other Info: This was a one game only character pre rolled by the storyteller. So there's not a lot to say.
FRANKLIN (FRANK) HENDERSHOT Former human gumshoe turned 11th generation, day walking Catiff vampire.
Stats: Coming soon.
Description: When he was human, he was a chubby, balding, Hawaiian shirt wearing slob private eye who resembled the character of Sipowitz on "NYPD Blue". Now as a 11th generation vampire he is svelt, well dressed, has lost the Brooklyn accent and is now a force to be reckoned with!
Current Character Status: Character is retired.
Imaginary Current Status: Franklin, as he is now called. Travels the world with his fellow day walking vampire, Clairice, learning more and more about the Vampire world....so that one day he can RULE IT!! A little power mad, I'd say.
Other Info: Franklin was played as a white trashy detective until, upon one of his investigations, was embraced by a very powerful vampire. Now he's got class and style and a will to rule the world!! |

Vampire: The Dark Ages is basically the same as The Masquerade except it takes place in Medieval times. Quite dark and bloody, actually!!
MANSON MCGREGGOR (of the clan McGreggor) A 12th level Vampire in Medieval times
Clan: Ravnos Nature: Defender Demeanor: Rogue Concept: Highwayman
Description: Wild, long, red hair with a beard and moustache. Yes... he did wear a kilt. No... nothing underneath.
Character's Status: Unfortunately, we didn't play this game very long. I think it lasted one campaign. So he's retired.
Imaginary Current Status: Haunting an old castle in the highlands of Scotland, jumping out at tourists and yelling, "Woot da hell are yough doin' in me castle, ya bastards? NO! I'm not related to a Ewan!!!!"
Other Info: None really. See above. |

This game was played like the X-Files, except the main antagonists were not aliens. They were cultists.
JAMES BOLDMAN British Secret Service Agent (James Bond, basically.)
STATS: Can't remember. Don't have the old character sheet. If my friend Mario comes across it, I'm sure he'll let me know and I'll put the info up here.
Description: James Bond, Basically.
Character's Current Status: Retired.
Imaginary Current Status: Chasing women, fighting cultists...James Bond, basically.
Other Info: Not much... James Bond, basically. |

Imagine yourself in The Wild, Wild West meets Dungeons & Dragons meets H.P. Lovecraft's works and then your get an idea of the theme of this game. One of my favorites.
JEREMIAH CAST Gambler and a Huckster
Stats: d6 Cognition d10 Knowledge d6 Mien d8 Smarts d4 Spirit d6 Deftness d6 Nimbleness d6 Strength d6 Quickness d6 Vigor
Description: Well dressed for the 1800's with a nice suite, a pocket watch with gold chain and a bowler on top of his head.
Character's Current Status: Retired by player for lack of having anything helpful ... THANK GOD!
Imaginary Status: Probably using his lame "arcane abilities" to do a little magic show as an act in a saloon show in the town of Deadwood. "Where are the dancin' girls, ya putz?!?!?!" can be heard being yelled throughout the audience during many of his shows.
Other Info: This character was lame!!! Lame! Lame! Lame! LAME! Thank god I had a Marshal (GM for Deadlands) who was kind enough to let me roll a new character.
ERASMUS BOWL Texas Ranger
Stats: d10 Cognition d8 Knowledge d8 Mien d6 Smarts d8 Spirit d10 Deftness d12 Nimbleness d6 Strength d12 Quickness d8 Vigor
Description: Imagine actor Sam Elliot ("We Were Soldiers", "Roadhouse", "Tombstone") as a Texas Ranger wearing a long, tan riding coat and large rimmed brown cowboy hat, clutching a .50 Sharps shotgun. Not a feller ya want to mess with, I reckon!
Current Status: Was killed in battle. Shot to death by Megolito Loveless' giant lizard riding army. Our Nun went down in that battle also.
Imaginary Status: After Erasmus' remains were devoured by a giant lizard, they were digested and then passed under a pretty elm tree where flatulent horses now come to graze. Awww.
Other Info: Although Erasmus was a no nonsense kind of guy, his best friend was his flatulent horse, Stinky. The other characters didn't mind stinky, as long as they rode upwind of him.
DR. ARTEMUS SHATTERHAND Mad Scientist
Stats: d10 Cognition d10 Knowledge d8 Mien d8 Smarts d6 Spirit d8 Deftness d8 Nimbleness d6 Strength d8 Quickness d8 Vigor
Description: This was another well dressed character with gold pocket watch, finly pressed suit and bowler. He also had shoulder length grey hair and a moustache and gotee.
Character's Current Status: Retired.
Imaginary Current Status: Has his own little barn full of inventions and is the first to introduce the study and practice of Proctology to the wild, weird west.
Other Info: Another humorous character I liked to play. He was based after Dr. Smith from "Lost in Space" and, although he was a mad scientist, he had a side interest in proctology and liked to practice on anyone/thing he could get his hands on. Ever wonder why Megalito Loveless walks funny? None of his compatriots wanted to room with him. |

Do I really have to explain what a Star Wars role playing game is like? If I do, I suggest you rent the films and imagine the characters rolling 20 sided dice to determine if they succeed in blowing up the Death Star, winning a pod race, raising an X-wing fighter up from the swamps of Dagoba or slowly using their Dark Side powers to squeeze the throat of a certain Gungan. Fpr more info on our Star Wars RPGs, click on Yoda, above.
JODZ BURDOZ 11th level human Fringer/Scoundrel
Stats: STR 13 DEX 16 CON 15 INT 12 WIS 13 CHAR 12
Description: Imagine Kurt Russel's characters of Jack Burton from "Big Trouble in Little China" and Snake Pliskin from "Escape From New York" mashed together. Then lose the eye patch but keep those cool boots with the buttons up the side and you have Jodz's look down pat.
Current Character Status: Quasi-retired, but considering coming back to full time adventuring.
Imaginary Current Status: Since the beginning of the game, just about 3 years ago, Jodz has benefited from his slightly loud-mouthed, braggadocios behavior. It seems as much as his personality gets him in trouble, it also helps him acquire fame and glory. So far he’s “obtained” a Sith Infiltrator ship and named it “The Screaming Whore”, He’s helped save Padme Amidalla’s family from the Trade Federation and he’s helped in the capture of wanted criminals Zam Wesell and Aura Sing. Jodz had a bit of a hard time in losing his co-pilot, a wookie by the name of Scoobaloompa, when he was killed in a battle with a dark jedi in an elevator shaft of a mercenary base. Since then Jodz has slowley pulled away form the whole "man for hire" gigs and has gone after a more laid back role with the Black Sun crime syndicate. Could he be planing to retire or will he return as the scoundrel we all knwo and love? Whoe knows?
Other Info: I'm quite excited to be playing the Star Wars RPG! It's based on the same mechanics as D&D, 20 d 3rd Edition. Jodz Burdoz is obviously strongly influenced by the "Big Trouble In Little China" character of Jack Burton. Loud, brash, bragadocious and a bit goofy. Much like Han Solo he is a smuggler/man for hire who has just made friends with a Hawaiian shirt wearing Wookie named Scubalumpa (Scooby for short).
Netto Loz 9th level Lepi Scoundrel / Starship Ace STR: 14 DEX: 15 CON: 13 INT: 15 WIS: 13 CHA: 14
Description: Netto is an alien species that is known as a Lepi, which is basiclally a 6' tall bipedal, anomorphic, psuedo-humanoid, green rabit...in a spacer's suit. He's a kick-A pilot wjho used to run with Jodz in the old days. His attiude and personality are pretty much on par with Bruce Campbel''s portrayal of Ash in the "Evil Dead" movies. "Here's my BOOMSTICK, baby."
Imaginary Status: Netto Loz teamed up with Jodz for a while to adventure along with the group that Jodz was currently running with. After Jodz left to do some pre-retirement work with Black Sun, Netto continued ion with the current group and help the republic agains the Trade Federation and Confederacy of Planets as best he can.
Other Info: Even though I wasn't sick of playing Jodz, I wanted to try and run a slight differnt character, in case Jodz got killed off. Well I ended up putting Jodz to the side and playing more of Netto. At this point I'm trying hard to not turn Netto into a clone of Jodz and am having a hard time of it. Perhaps I'll bring Jodz back into the fold, or maybe I'll stick to Netto. Whatever happens, I have two cool characters to work with.. |

In this game, you enter the worlds of James Bond, The Man from UNCLE, Jack Ryan as well as many other famous espionage agents and stories.
HERATIO ABLE 1st Level Urban Assault Soldier (but I play him as an assassin)
STR 12 DEX 12 CON 11 INT 10 WIS 12 CHAR 9
Description: Heratio is a tall, slender man with pointy nose, piercing eyes and long, straight, jet black hair. He can usually be found wearing dark clothes and black trench coat. He speaks in a low voice that usually features a slight Brooklyn accent.
Current Status: He’s in the field. I could tell you where…but then I’d have to kill you.
Other Info: They call this character “the Undertaker” within the world of Spycraft… but in very hushed tones. |

This is another X-Files type RPG. It’s an old game that was created before the X-Files ever aired. But it’s about being in a group of agents that fight that investigate the secret world of the paranormal in modern day time. The game itself is out of print and only obtainable by ordering on the net and receiving it on CD-ROM. It’s a very complicated game to run, though. There are many, many charts the GM has to go through for combat alone. In any case, we’ve found a willing GM in my friend Rob.
JAMES BOLDMAN Yep, I ‘m using the same character that I used in CULT.
STR: 10, INT: 12, THR: 13, CON: 12 WIS: 12, DOD: 10, DEX: 13, LCK: 11, ACC: 14, AGL: 12, CRZ: 10, STB: 82, SNS: 10, MRE: 2, PIE: 12 HPT (WBD): 50
For all other info, see what I said about Boldman in the CULT section.
Other Info: We’ve only played one small game so far and it went pretty well. I don’t know who created and designed the game itself, but it puts the poor game master through hell or high water to run it. Perhaps with time, it’ll get smoother. Maybe they should make a d20 system of the game. |

In this game I am gamemaster! It is the FIRST ever game that I have ever run. It is based on the horror writings of H.P. Lovecraft and takes place in 1920s Arkham, Mass. If you want to know lots more about the game I run, click the “back” button on your browser to return to the RPG Gamez passage of my Vault of Geekdom and then click on the Cthulhu icon. |

Well, you’re probably really nerded out right about now. So I suggest you get off the internet, run down to your local game or hobby shop and pick out a game for you and your friends to play. If you’re afraid of ridicule and being made fun of…then ya just don’t have the guts to play RPGs. |
